Fair enough, but if you were going to point out something from a narrative perspective next time, please point that out to begin with so nobody misunderstands, because I was under the impression that you were saying that the blandest male character in the history of One Piece overshadows Hiyori, who is far from the blandest female character in the history of One Piece (Rebecca).
I thought I was rather clear, considering I said "As a child of Oden" and not "as a character." But if I wasn't, I apologies for the misunderstanding.

But don't worry, I'm not exactly in the interest of standing up for Momo or Hiyori. I don't really care for either of them enough.

Hiyori standing up to Orochi to save Toko and giving her birthright so Kaido could be killed alone TOPS everything Momo has ever done and will likely ever do.
"Giving her birthright" is just her being the self-sacrificial woman in the background who gives up what belongs to her for the benefit and success of a man.

Sadly her standing up to Orochi to save Toko is one of the only things she will ever do actively.
And that's only due to her "motherly instinct" that supposedly all women have. Toki, Bellemere, Tashigi and now even Big Mom.
That's such an old, boring trope.

I do not see why such an old trope is your point of criticism, tbh.

"Protective fatherly instinct" is as old as time and has been seen in OP in Shanks, WB, and Zoro for example, but that is a point to and for their strength. Why should its female counterpart not be seen under the same light?

What I am trying to say is: I do not think having a motherly instinct is detrimental to any female character, including Hiyori.

If that's to your liking, to each their own. Functionally, she's still carrying out the same role as any princess.
That's true but oda was going to give zoro a romance at some point just like he did the other guys, someone had to fulfill that role
