Wasn't it shown in East Blue (on Gaimon's island) as well or was it anime only ?

Edit : I just checked and Sanji wasn't even on the crew when they met Gaimon in the manga, neither was Usopp.
The weird Gaimon Island happened right after they defeated Buggy so my bad.

Hence why it's actually a showcase of good writing by Oda, to make Black Maria & Saturn (which encounter Sanji) to be spiders. Marvel level of continuity.
