He only lost to Blackbeard who was Yonkou level at that time, while being the only member in the entire paramount war that actually managed to keep up with the Admirals.

It isn't Marco's fault when WB was starting to go down minutes after clashing with Akainu. They couldn't pull their fucking weight, especially WB.

He dont even defeat any admiral level character, been put up with seastone cuff by Kizaru, how can he be a yonko lol.... Yonko level can fight admiral look at WB, BB fight Sengoku equally, Shanks stop Akainu, Kizaru raise his arm Benn Beckman. That the diffrent Marco at. He clearly not Yonko level and not yonko level is weak. If he subordinate or crew is ok but he is the Captain now. It simple argument

BB became a Yonko because he took over the rest of WB's territory not because he beat Marco.

King of course, Tobi ropo dont respect him but Katakuri been loved and respect by whole big mom crew. That why people dont count Marco too much because a fan like this. Katakuri even respected Luffy when they fight that show how good his character are.

If it was Kata who led the WB pirates B.B. Would have been considered a Yonko too. Because beating a high high tier with a pseudo (below a real one but still strong) Yonko crew behind him is worthy of being recognized a Yonko.

But does that change the fact that Marco has a particular portrayal ?

Any RH (except prime Ray) in Marco shoes would have lost against BB, does this mean Marco and Kata and Ben and King are equal just because they all lose to BB ?

And even if we say that Kata in the same situation would have done the same or better who knows because Oda wrote all these scenes and all these moments for Marco.

Does Kata can fight admirals ? Maybe but Marco did it
Does Kata can lead his crew and fight BB the main (or second) antagonist for him to become a Yonko ? Maybe but Marco did it.
Does Kata would be considered important to help and be looked after to fight against Kaido in Wano war ? Maybe but Marco did/will do it.
Maybe Shanks would have asked Kata to join him but in the real manga he asked Marco.

Oda chose to put Marco in all these situations and moments and we can ask ourselves if others could have done it but the one who was chosen was Marco, the one with feats or relevance was Marco. The big bro of Ace was Marco, the RH of WB was Marco, the guy who fought the 3 wars we have seen in One piece is Marco.

All of that makes Marco special, this portrayal as someone important in the One piece world.

he is basically invincible but he dont rly have any destruction (seems to be a common problem for yonkou commanders lol). sure, he can exchange blows. king, who is also bird type has been much more destructive. even luffy in gear 4 or even 3 has more raw power than Marco.

that said, i think Marco can become OP if he wanted to through haki bloom. lol. He can just keep vsing strong haki users and keep using phoenix powers to replenish his strength. look at luffy vs katakuri, marco can basically do that 24/7. just spar vs anyone and experience haki bloom for days.

Marco is a slight step down from people we normally call top tiers. if the step is small enough that Marco himself can be called a top tier too depends where you draw the line between top tier and high tier.
