People can say dumb things such as Sanji ran away or what not. Dumb things that only began after the Toei version of Sanji vs P1 happened. But logically speaking, we know P1 got defeated.
- P1 stated he will destroy the town -> After the fight....no town destroyed
- P1 in the team looking for Sanji -> After the fight....mysteriously disappears for 2 weeks
- Drake nonchantly looking for Sangoro -> After the fight.....Drake pissed at Sangoro
- Sanji worried for the town -> After the fight.....Sanji not worried at all
- Law trusted Sanji to handle P1, so they dont worry about people coming after them - After the fight....Law not worried at all
It's blatantly obvious P1 was defeated. Whether he was two-shotted or was defeated with more attacks is besides the point. Theres no way Sanji would leave him to destroy the town. Theirs no way P1 would just leave Sanji alone after getting beaten up. Theres no way Sanji and Law wouldnt be worried....if P1 was not defeated.
Now....why did Oda off-panel it ? Simply because it would make P1's opponent look bad. In this case...Usopp.
Usually when villains are defeated....they begin to look like scrubs after that. Here are a few examples:
Narratively, Oda doesnt want Usopp to fight Sanji's leftovers. Yes....we know Sanji is far stronger than Usopp. But RS Sanji would logically beat the crap outta him. Whether it was a 2-shot or not, P1 would've gotten rag dolled and toyed with. Having him then fight Usopp....whilst new people, who havent been dehyped fight other SHs....just wouldnt be fair to Usopp. Oda off-panelled it for that specifc reason.
It maybe later revealed that Sanji defeated P1. But I don't think Oda will ever show Sanji defeating P1.

Your argument about Oda protecting Pay Pay's hype doesn't hold water at all.
- Killer isnt an opponent to the SHs. He's just another fodder fighting Kaido...and will be outshined by everyone on the roof

It isnt about Oda defeating people and then making them fight others. It's about having SH opponents defeated on-panel....and then seeing them as less of a threat and less impressive to defeat.

When page one is attacking nami, sanji would get pissed off and defend nami against page one. But ulti would get pissed off at sanji and attacks him. Nami knows sanji cannot win in a fight against women so she would defend sanji against ulti. And so on.
Now, what is usopp role here then? Well....
A fire bird? Seems familiar to a certain beast pirate.
The people that said Page One never got defeated are the same people that said Sanji got knocked out by King's beak attack. I smells an agenda here.
I don't know who thought that Sanji got knocked out by King, but i believe its just as absurd to assume base Sanji with raid suit knocked out Page One a tobiroppo level with a no named attack. Until i get more information or feats from both sides, i won't draw conclusion.
Poor Oda.
He offscreen fights and stuff just so he can waste panels on side trash characters and side trash plots.
And then people complain about "where's this? where's that?".

Dude used Sanji as the "hypetool" for as long as I can remember, then he just makes him a power ranger for the sake of not creating some dumb ass new CoA form out of his ass, to justify him fighting strong enemies.
That's really just it.

Sanji vs Page1 was purely for showcasing how Sanji can deal with a sturdy opponent that uses an Ancient Zoan.
He kicks the dude left and right, he barely feels when he is thrown across multiple buildings, have a shield to compensate his CoA, got invisibility for Shenanigans, etc.
Next time we see Drake and Hawkins, Page1 is not with them. Drake is still searching for "Sangoro"/Soba Mask, but Page1 is nowhere to be seen.

And the story here at onigashima clearly shows flying six are not obedient to calamaties. This relationship is well explained when flying six met up with kaido and king. But of course this simple exposition still goes over you sanji fans head
