Questions & Mysteries Why top tiers can't turn their blades black?

Because no one freaking CARES about Black Blades. They aren't special to anyone but Zoro and Mihawk. THATS IT!
The whole of Wano calls the only other man who's made a black blade their literal God.

mihawk isnt considered stronger than other swordsmen because he has a black blade but due to the title the author has decided to give him.
Are you sure about this?

Are you saying there isn't some kind of threshold of power required to make a black blade? That a lot of people could've made a black blade if they wanted to?

To be honest Zoro doesn't even really care about black blades. All he cares about is it making him stronger.
That's not the topic at hand. Zoro is not a factor in this.

"Why can't top tiers turn their blades black?" Zoro is not a consideration here.

My response is that it's not that they CAN'T but that top tiers simply dont care enough to turn their blades black. It's not been a factor for anything in over 900 chapters. Unless you put your whole being into swordsmanship... which is something Zoro and Mihawk have in common. That doesnt describe anyother top tier.

It's probably a combination of CoA strength and some devotion-type shit like merging your spirit with your sword or whatever. How much CoA strength is necessary is uncertain as we don't know how strong Mihawk's CoA is. Just as how Katakuri can have better CoO than top-tiers, it is perfectly possible for Mihawk to simply have better CoA than Rogerbeard. Or, his CoA could be on par with theirs while he's more devoted, or his CoA could be vastly weaker and it's more about being devoted. It could also be some chosen-one type shit like VOAT. At this point it's impossible to tell.

Yep.

At this point I see two chances.

You need 3rd level CoA (penetration) to literally penetrate the sword with your haki. Which would imply that Roger, WB, Rayleigh, Shanks, Fujitora etc. All stopped at level 2 CoA (barrier). Although I'm a swordboy, this is hard to believe.

That leaves sword spirit BS. Honestly, if that's the case I wish Oda ignored this black blade thing entirely. :gonope:

I Guess not all blades can be made black, only special swords Like Enma that absorb the user haki. The cursed blades

He was barely introducing Zoro to basic haki, he was not teaching him some advanced haki teachnuque only 2 swordmen in hystory were known to have lol
You realise that Mihawk was talking about making permanent black blades not just coating your sword in armament.... Do you remember the conversation? Mihawk about asks Zoro about his swords breaking and tells him if his swords were black blades they wouldn't even get chipped.

Get it? We know this is not true about actual coating swords in armament since Zoro himself says that if one guy's armament is stronger than another guy's then he will cut through him... So if Mihawk literally says making black blade means your sword can never be broken he would be lying if he simply means coating a sword in armament like you armament suggesting

So no, Mihawk has said that any sword can become a black blade snd everything else you are saying is head canon

In fact your point is just wrong to begin wth since Enma isn't a a cursed sword, Shusui and Yoru have never been stated to be cursed swords, the only cursed swords in the series are the kitetsu blades and Law's sword and they ARE NOT black blades and once again Mihawk says any sword can become a black blade
