Questions & Mysteries Why Tristan?

#1
Basically what the title says. What made Oda decide to use Tristan as the foreshadowing character of the Mink Tribe and Zou? Of course what I am referring to is in Chapter 795 when we she is first hinted to be the mysterious girl that Nami and the others encountered when they made landfall on Zou.

In hindsight, wouldn't a prominent Mink character like Carrot have made for a far more profound initial encounter for the Twirly Hats? Imagine the entire crew having memorable encounters with Carrot, cementing her as a key character for future arcs.

The Twirly Hats save her from Sheepshead and she has a clash with Zoro and the Dressrosa team, it would've made for a very memorable introduction for Carrot. IMO that would have made Carrot far more of a standout character if she was our first glimpse of the Minks and Zou.

What do you guys think? What made Oda decide to use a very minor character like Tristan?

When the Hell did Tristan appear?
I was expecting a furry joke but instead you hit me with a curve ball. Isn't it hilarious that Tristan was just a random NPC who followed Yugi around while spouting exposition and one-liners? We need more Tristans.
Furry chick with a medical degree and a nice rack, sort of a blink and you'll miss her character. I'm pretty sure she's screwing Dr. Miyagi.

Wasn’t she the doctor’s assistant? I guess it plays that she’d be out and about trying to help the poisoned/defeated minks lying around everywhere...then when the shit between Sanji and Sheepshead went down, her PTSD kicked in and she felt the need to run and hide so as to not incur any more Beast Pirates wrath, not realizing that some of the humans were there to help.

As to why it wasn’t Carrot, I think that’s obvious now - Oda doesn’t want her in the crew and never did. Must suck to root for a character to become a focused protagonist for five years before another chick comes in and immediately makes the kind of case you described above #Yamato4Nakama
