Basically what the title says. What made Oda decide to use Tristan as the foreshadowing character of the Mink Tribe and Zou? Of course what I am referring to is in Chapter 795 when we she is first hinted to be the mysterious girl that Nami and the others encountered when they made landfall on Zou.
In hindsight, wouldn't a prominent Mink character like Carrot have made for a far more profound initial encounter for the Twirly Hats? Imagine the entire crew having memorable encounters with Carrot, cementing her as a key character for future arcs.
The Twirly Hats save her from Sheepshead and she has a clash with Zoro and the Dressrosa team, it would've made for a very memorable introduction for Carrot. IMO that would have made Carrot far more of a standout character if she was our first glimpse of the Minks and Zou.
What do you guys think? What made Oda decide to use a very minor character like Tristan?
