Questions & Mysteries Why was Luffy in such a bad shape after fighting Kizaru?

#29
Kizaru literally did nothing to Luffy apart from that one charged up kick at the beginning. Luffy was exhausted before he even started to fight him. This was pointed out twice. Once after he fought Lucci and another time when he chased after Vegapunk. His exhaustion has more to do with G5 than with anything Kizaru has done.

Bumping my own thread since I might have figured it out
It has been etablished (again) in the last chapter that haki reserves are a thing, and that you can channel it all to use in one go. But by doing so you're immobilized afterward
I always found it strange why Luffy was so fucked up after his second round of G4 despite only using it for one attack. I never had the feeling that Doffy did enough damage to justify him passing out and 3 days sleep.
Especially conisdering Oda confirmed G4's drawback in itself doesn't prevent you from moving, it's just that Luffy saves his strenght when he's with people.
So I think Luffy did something similar for Dressrosa's KKG.
But Luffy vs Doffy is not that relevant to this thread, so ignore it if you want.

After the last chapter, I'm left wondering... what if when Luffy felt that his round of G5 was almost over, he used all of his haki for White Star Gun or at very least a big part of it in an attempt to take it down?Him taking such risk would not be shocking considering the context (Kizaru was firing laser beams at his friends). That would explain why Luffy's drawback was worse than usual as I explained in the OP, why he couldn't restart himself despite his friends being in direct danger, why he had to eat for 2 chapters straight an island worth of food to recover. Even for those that don't believe Luffy constanly used aCOC against Kizaru, it is explained by Luffy saving up after Kizaru's blocked his COC coated kick for until the moment he could land a clean hit on Kizaru as the light man could either block or dodge any of his moveset, which is why he had to make up a new move (and for Kizaru to switch his focus to Vegapunk) to finally land one.

i can say the naysayers as it kills their cope of Luffy holding back and this only managed to give Kizaru a strong headache, but it makes perfect sense when if you try think about it objectively. One Piece "fans" prefer to blame "plot" over accepting that there was reason for Luffy (who is barely afraid of anything) to react like when he felt Kizaru's presence.

Man, and that all out attack from G5 didn't even bother Kizaru, he kept supplying Luffy with food immediately afterwards. And that's despite already pointing out that he can't cause collateral damage to the environment.

Good comparison of G4 to G5
In G4 Luffy uses huge amounts of CoA to hold his form ,that‘s why after it he deflates like an ballon.

For G5
As always Waido has the Haki answer for us.

Luffy coats all of his attacks in CoA and CoC.
Which means Luffy uses even more Haki in this state, that‘s why it‘s so draining.
So he is constantly using huge amounts of potentially all 3 types of Haki.

Kaido even mentioned he would die if he keps on .

Weirdly enough that's what I thought he did the first time I read that chapter. Like Vegeta's Final Flash, an abnormally strong move.

Either that, or he used to much energy to use hax to speed himself up with Kizaru's laser.
