As soon as I read the spoiler "Kidd is reaching Elbaf" I already have a bad feeling about this.
Kidd will set foot on Elbaf before Luffy, and while on surface it seems things are looking good for him, having earlier start than Luffy and all, but looking at previous arcs, I think Kidd reaching Elbaf first before Luffy actually means a bad thing will happen him.
Last times someone else reached the next island before Luffy, either things didn't get smooth for them, or plot hasn't moved forward for them. It is as if Oda doesn't want to officially start the story before his golden boy Luffy sets his foot on said island.
> Sanji's group reached Zou first before Luffy while Luffy was still stuck in Dressrosa, result: Sanji got kidnapped.
> Zoro and Law's group reached Wano first while Luffy took a detour to WCI, result: Zoro and Law only stayed low. The serious fighting against Beast Pirates never started until Luffy came to Wano.
Knowing Kidd's personality, it sounds like him much more to actually get trouble in Elbaf, rather than staying low peacefully. He maybe will start looking for the man with burned mark Saul, which is also in Elbaf. But then, some incidents happen, and Kidd will get involved against Elbaf's main future villains.
Unlike Kaido and Big Mom who were already hyped since long ago, the readers know next to nothing about the Elbaf characters. The Elbaf villains, as the villains from Strongest Country in the world, need some hype to make the readers feel excited. And unfortunately, Kidd will get picked as their hype tool once again. Which is kinda a good choice imo, as Elbaf villains will defeat "the guy who have defeated Linlin" whom also had history with Elbaf.
When Luffy and gang reach Elbaf, they won't see Kidd anymore in the town. Only until the arc focuses to the dungeon, we will finally sees a bruised Kidd again, locked in cage.
What do you think?
