It takes a special someone to dismiss obvious symbolism like Whitebeard and Blackbeard being polar opposites and being based off of the same pirate. Names matter when Oda wants to make them deliberate contrast to each other.

And "friendship" had nothing to do with what made Roger and Whitebeard special to the worst gen. And where do you get Blackbeard dies at the EOS? Even if he dies, he'd still be seen as the number two just like how Roger was still seen as the number one after his death.

Didnt expect this reply from you, do you think its necessary for Law to be WSS if he wanna be WSM, because he has a sword in his hand? I dont think Law is WSS material since he's such a DF-oriented fighter, but i dont think he has to get WSS as a milestone either to be WSM.

The way I see it WSM is the number 1 in the verse in terms of strength and above the WSS. We had one WSM in the verse who is canonically equal to Roger, i.e., the WSM is basically the PK. That title belongs to Luffy or Blackbeard, not for a cheerleader who will never be equal to EoS Luffy.

Law is WSS material. Thats why he could lecture a sword geek (Tashigi) about swordsmanship =>

Yea thats what i mean as well, just like how WB is probabpy slightly inferior to Roger even if he's titled the WSM, i imagine similar scenario about Law.

Most people already said that Law is more fits to WSS and PK than WSM due to the nature of his devil fruit and tactical thinking. Hell, even Luffy and Kidd would be better for WSM than Law.

Blackbeard is Rocks and Whitebeard mixed together. That’s part of what makes him so special, and so dangerous.

The same way Luffy is Joy Boy, Shanks, Roger, and probably Nika and Dragon as well all rolled up into the one package. With a bit of being a pirate version of Garp to boot.

And Zoro’s got aspects of Rayleigh, Mihawk and Ryuma in his makeup.

And half the characters on Wano seem to be a bloody Oden parallel while we’re at it.

But when it comes to the question of who Luffy’s Whitebeard is it’s very obviously Blackbeard. Whitebeard was a “good” rival, hence White, Blackbeard is an evil one, hence Black. Blackbeard is Whitebeard’s “son.“ Blackbeard has Whitebeard‘s fruit. Blackbeard killed Whitebeard. Blackbeard took Whitebeard’s Yonko role. Blackbeard beat Whitebeard’s crew. Blackbeard’s crew is set up with ship captains the same as Whitebeard’s was.

And he‘s got Rocks in him too. He named his ship after Rocks. He‘s taken Rocks old island. Both are D’s. Like Rocks, he’s gathered a collection of incredibly dangerous pirates who would otherwise hate each other under his banner. Probably wants to be King of the World like Rocks did.
