Technically speaking, it doesn't make sense for him get to KO'd again after literally beating the "world strongest creature" with a new "god" fruit powerup.

But you know it will STILL happen eitherway, because what other way is there to show the new bad guy is threatening other than having him knock out your MC?

My bets are on Teach. He has been established to have fruit negating powers already, plus his "darkness" essentially countering Luffy's "sun" in more than just a symbolic contrast.

As much as I get the idea it raises the stakes when Luffy gets KO'd I always find it cheap when it's used every arc.

A good writer should be able to build up a villain without making the MC seem so beneath him or her.
