Neither in my opinion. Shanks seems like he’s set up to be a sacrifice to help Luffy progress and drag Blackbeard down to his demise after their serious fight to save the “next generation” that he keeps larping about.

As for CG, there will be a non-serious scuffle and SH will agree to form a temporary alliance with Cross Guild and Revolutionary army together against Imu in Marijoa raid arc imo. They’ve all done it before in Impel Down and Marineford and are all friends in rival sense.

I dont know how people imagine a fight between Luffy and Shanks.
A swordsman who can cancel Luffy's abilities and one-shot him with each swing of his sword.
The amount of plot armor needed to make this fight would make Katakuri and Kaido fight look cute and those 2 had tons of it already.

There has to be some narrative payoff between the two regardless but a serious fight isn't needed.
Shanks is narratively important as he is Luffy's goal, putting together a crew better than Shanks'.
However, the goal is achievable by beating a crew that beats Shanks' crew - Blackbeard pirates.

Cross Guild fight is guaranteed to happen, people underestimate the relevance of this match-up and some even think it wont happen.
People think Davy Back Fight was introduced for no reason, a throwaway plotline. No, SH vs CG is where it pays off.
It consists of 3-rounds fight between the two crews and also it just happens that there are only 3 triggers in the show as well as Power vs Power being guaranteed. Fame vs Fame and Wealth vs Wealth will be the other two rounds. This may be the final challenge of the show.

Buggy is Luffy's only true rival, not in strength but in ability to gather allies, to make people want to help him.

Building on my initial post, I think Cross Guild are gonna be aiming to steal the OP so will most likely aim for the moment right after the clash btw the SHs & the BB Pirates when they are weakened. WG will also try to stop the SHs from getting to the OP & there’s Shanks who will probably come to the SHs aid knowing the fuckery that’s about to go down, so we could see something like this:

Because when Buggy, who represents Fame, talks about what they need to be clear from even World Govt, he says Power in Mihawk's panel while he says Wealth in Crocodile's panel. Because Mihawk is the strongest in the world while Crocodile lends money to Buggy and so on. The battle between triggers is the whole point of Cross Guild, it might even be how the show ends.

I have a feeling Crossguild will face the marines but there’s the matter of Zoro vs Mihawk. I can’t really imagine Strawhat matchups for either crews aside from Luffy vs Shanks and Zoro vs Mihawk. Not saying they can’t or won’t happen, just personally the matchups seem odd to me.
