Questions & Mysteries Would Kid have bigger feats if not for Law's success?

Would Kid have a better treatment if Law didn't "steal" his spotlight?

Law played the biggest role post-TS after Luffy. No way Oda just made Law like this while being shocked that Kidd became another cog in the machine

Law, a former Warlord, holder of the “Ultimate Devil Fruit,” a D clan member, the one who broke the gears of the NW, he set all events moving forward into motion. This character ain’t someone you just go “oh wow didn’t realize he’s more important than expected”

Genuinely believe Oda just making excuses here as usual and throwing some kind of bone to Kidd fans before his inevitable humiliating defeat lmao. Forget backstory, niqqa didn’t even name his devil fruit in the manga story, that’s how little Oda thought of him lmao

That's literally what the image says and people are somehow denying it lmfao. The obsession with Kidd is so bad that people are mad that there was an *original plan* for him to be more important then Law

Wow.

Maybe Kidd was actually the one who's supposed to be a "D." given his demeanor but Law became popular since saving Luffy so they decided to swap their supposed roles.
Good thinking! Never thought about that...

Well, all those events you mentioned happened after the 4th popularity poll (actually MUCH after). If you take a good look, the earliest event that shows Law's leading role among the Supernovas is his intervention in Marineford to save Luffy. This one was coincidentally just after the 4th poll, so there's a good reason to think that Law's role was expanded after his popularity has been revealed.

A good counterexample IMO would be Hancock's case. She has been in the top 10 and rising since her first poll (5th) despite barely appearing in the manga since Marineford, but, in my view, she was screwed when BB attacked Amazon Lily. (Oda could just dislike strong females though, at some point they need to be damsels in distress for him.)

Popularity polls have no effect on what Oda plans with his story or characters, it is all a coincidence. Majority of these polls are voted for by women and Law is major popular with girls

BM has one of the biggest roles in post-TS OP, featured in two arcs and still alluded to in current arc due to her history ties with it. Doesn’t even crack Top 50 of polls

Mihawk’s role is barely an inklet yet he consistently ranks in the top 20

Fair enough, but couldn't Oda possibly change his mind due to the polls? Btw, Big Mom was just a ladder for the strawhats and their allies, even in her own arc (WCI, Luffy got a power up and managed to escape her in her own territory). Mihawk is obviously reserved for the EoS.

Just want to say as much as I hate Oda letting Ace live in the story would be retarded. The story benefits greatly from Luffy losing completely as least once. That editor against Ace's death is a super cuck, and I hope he is currently jobless. If Oda had balls he would kill more characters, i.e: more of the supernovas. Instead we have a world where the vast majority of the character deaths are during flashbacks.

Laws initial Popularity definetley got in the way of the shine Kidd was supposed to get post timeskip. Portrayal during the pre timeskip Shabaody arc made it clear that Kidd was introduced as the main non luffy/zoro supernova who we would have to really look out for. But once Oda saw that fans liked Law more (due to his design and personality), I think he decided to give him more shine than originally planned post timeskip. Oda even has a quote where he says he never imagined Law being THIS important, but did for Kidd. If Law didn't exist Kidd would've gotten way more shine imo. And im saying this as someone whose 2nd fav character is Law lol
