Thing is devil fruits and haki are rivaling power systems, haki I felt was implemented to level the playing field w devil fruit users. So I believe anyone can be defeated without haki, anyone can be defeated without a devil fruit but you need one or the other (that is until we see scientific power reach top tier heights). Just as Kid said “even mountains can be withered by rain”. Also one piece has so many variables that can be factored into any fight that can influence the outcome, matchup is key.

Haki seems to be there to "balance" DF, but in reality, Haki still triumphs over it.

I for one always believe that to reach the very top, you will need everything in your favor.

More hardwork means a higher advantages. See Coby situation.
More talent means a higher advantages. See Yamato situation.
More destiny means a higher advantages. See CoC users.

So if you want to reach the top, you need all the things that benefit you. Someone with hardwork, talent, and destiny (for example Zoro) will possibly have a higher ceiling than one with only one of it (for example Sanji only have talent, but no hard work & destiny).

In this BM & Kidd Law fights, Oda wants to show us that hax DF can compensate one's lack of Haki.
Whereas Luffy with both hax DF & Haki can go further than them.

Nope, Kids attacks are have less force than WCI Luffy's Gear 4 attacks, proven by the faxt that Big Mom was forced to use hardening and Her bodyweight to block a regular kong gun.

And Luffy's internal destruction and barrier coa is boosted by his adv CoC( which is based on willpower). And he has the strongest will power in the series.

She never used haki to block kid or law.
