Doubt it. Oda gave Buggy a random illness so he and Shanks stay away and can be active characters in the current story that are not spoiled. As you pointed out, the main character has a DF. As some other straw hats. I also don't think the WG and Im created the DFs.

It’s a great theory, but it has too many holes overall. The biggest ones being Luffy having a df, Roger wanting to tell WB how to get to Raftel despite him having a df, and Imho, Teach having 2 dfs. If anyone knows about dfs’ side effects it’s him. And if Doffy knows about this, why’d he eat a devil fruit?

Imu being able to control or insta-kill df users would be way too broken, it also wouldn’t explain why the marines had to go to war with WB and other pirates if Imu could just remotely kill them at will. And again, Oda would’ve made the main character immune.

It does look like Shanks and Rayleigh (and maybe Garp and Mihawk) made a willing choice not to eat dfs. And Shanks did not want Luffy to eat one. There probably is something negative about them (they are called devil fruits after all)

But fwiw, at least before reaching Raftel, Roger had no issues with anyone in his crew eating buggy’s df.

There’s also probably something up with Buggy not being able to go to Raftel and all those narrator boxes about it.

I know about the bugs .... I'm just pointing out on everything funny around that last journey

it's just the kind of things people assume it's random so writers can use it as twists

even if a small present of my theory come true I'm a happy man

i didnt see this before i posted mine in the theory forum but yeah i agree completely and think this is true.

even if the official doesnt have "cant go on that island" disease the fact remains only buggy gets sick when he approaches the island, with a fever so high his body has steam coming off of it, and it's so bad Crocus won't let him go even though he wants to.

i do think it will be a problem that stops luffy, robin, brook, and chopper from going to the island, but that Chopper the genius devil fruit doctor will figure out a way around it. the rumble balls "disrupt the wavelength" of the devil fruit and that might be how laugh tale's defense system works too

all I know is having DFs should have way bigger consequences than sea stones or not being able to swim

it made NO sense for people like Shanks to be defensive in face of DFs when he can surly and highly take benefit form it
