General & Others "Zoro hasn't fought Pure swordsman "

I don’t understand the people who say Zoro hasn’t fought proper swordsmen. If that’s the standard, they might as well switch to reading Vagabond even though the main character there also mixes martial arts with his swordplay.
One of the things I really like about One Piece is how every swordsman has a unique style. It keeps things fresh and interesting. I’d actually love to see Zoro mix in some martial arts moves with his swordplay in the future.
Every sword user in the series fights in their own way, and thats what makes it so enjoyable. I hope we eventually get to see guys like Roger, Rayleigh, and Shanks use their legs or other martial moves in battle too and not just sword swings. It would make their fighting styles feel even more cool.

The idea that a "real" swordsman should only use a sword and nothing else is wrong. Many famous swordsmen in Japan also used their hands and legs during swords fights. In a real battle, you have to use everything you can to win. I hope Oda shows more of this in One Piece that being a swordsman can mean different things. Every swordsman should have their own idea of what it means to be a swordsman. That would make the story more interesting.

This is pure agenda brainrot and nothing else, and we are at fault for letting this cancer grow by arguing with stupid fucks instead of just ignoring them. As a fandom this is the most embarrassing part that you have people actually (I thought it was only trolling but recent chapters creating meltdowns) arguing about who is a swordsman and what is swordsmanship. So much thought and philosophy probably has not been applied to mangas dedicated to samurais/swordsmen.

And the main reason, the root cause for this brainrot are Shanks fans who tried to squeak their way out of having to accept that Shanks is weaker than Mihawk because Mihawk is WSS. Right from the start we get that any sword wielder is a swordsman even if they are a circus clown with retard tricks. But no, some fans overdose on copium and came up with this shit. And then this spread to other characters too and their fans. People have argued for Shanks, Roger, Rocks, Law, Fuji, BM etc. not fall under the swordsman category otherwise they have to accept Mihawk being stronger and Zoro being stronger too after defeating Mihawk.

Jokes on them though because even if you try to save your fav by classifying them as someone other than swordsman Mihawk will still be stronger. Dumbfucks having caught up to the fact that Oda has portrayed all top tiers as swordsmen or their equivalent. Even JB/Nika has a sword in certain depictions. And people who try to push King not being a swordsman and then trying to use this to also save their fav dont realize that this actually pushes Mihawk and Zoro being stronger even more since they are not limited to defeating swordsmen only but are/seek to be the strongest regardless. Roger the PK is swordsman, his greatest rival Rocks is a swordsman, his successor Shanks is a swordsman, his partner Ray is a swordsman. The Gorosei have two swordsmen Venus and Garling, the Admirals have at least one swordsman Fuji. And above all these is Mihawk.

Lastly people forget that OP is a Japanese manga being written by a Japanese author mainly for the Japanese audience (the huge burst in global popularity is recent and something which OP lacked compared to Naruto afaik). So for the author and the primary audience the swordsman/samurai is the strongest type of character.

I mean if you want a pure swordsman, One Piece isn't the manga for you.

Though for many it's mostly an excuse to pretend that Zoro's promise of never losing before fighting Mihawk again is still standing, which is pure bs
