The crew is made up of people who didn't want to become pirates. Zoro hunted them, Sanji treated them as despicable, Nami turned against Luffy as soon as she found him to be one, Robin has been mistreated by them her whole life, Franky hated them because of his parents, Brook used to guard a kingdom yet something happened that turned him a pirate, and Jinbe was explicitly addressed as the pirate who hates pirates.

Zoro isn't special; the only Straw Hats who always wanted to be pirates are Luffy and Usopp. If Luffy dies or disbands the crew, only Usopp should truly stay a pirate.

Yes, then there would be no reason for him to live with weaklings.

This. I think Zoro's own dream and Luffy's dream have become one and the same to Zoro. He feels he needs to become the WSS otherwise he won't measure up to Luffy's dream of becoming PK, that's why I think him remembering Luffy's words in 1033 was so powerful
