I think Lucci faces another problem, which is entirely personal, if you noticed his odd behaviour during the whole of Egghead. And this problem will lead to him being in the line of fire between the WG and Vegapunk. And if you look at what we know and what we still do not know, you can notice that Oda is still hiding something very huge from us (that involves Lucci heavily):
- the time skip
- the person, who gave Luffy food
- the giant robot
- Lucci disregarding mission-goals and orders given to him by the WG while on Egghead
- Sanji's odd behaviour regarding Stussy being hurt
- the fight between that person vs. that person (it still needs to happen by chapter 1108)
- etc.

If you really think about it, than we are still missing what I would call the main problem of the arc being adressed. And with it, the list above will be adressed as well. Just wait a few more chapters until the Kuma and Bonney part could breath a little. Then Oda will adress the rest, which is: Vegapunk and his satellites, Lucci and Stussy, maybe even Kizaru.

I doubt it Lucci is always kept as the gold standard of what a cipher pol agent should be in every level of it he represents. Oda isn’t going to throw away his best cp0 agent before the war. I think it’s likely Zoro vs Lucci ends inconclusively and we scale him to the average yonko rhm, now that Zoro is officially recognized as one. They both get hype out of this encounter.

Luccis' I think would be permanent. But a quick google search says Axolotls can regenerate, repair or replace its arms, legs, tail, lower jaw, brain and heart. So good news for Smiley

Ending his career is wild but I always liked the idea that King of Hell Zoro takes a body part or weapon from his opponent from now on. Like King lost part of his wing and his blade, and Lucci could lose an arm or something like you said.
