No they would not.
If one son's life is in danger for another, Whitebeard would rethink
That's why he didn't go and take revenge for Oden because lives of his current crew would be in jeapordy.
Imagine if Whitebeard has to save Marco from Kaido and then suddenly Ace is arrested too..he'd also think and then act.
Straw hat had war with Kaido on their ass and now Sanji brought Big Mom debacle and that's why he wanted Luffy to just think.
Only thing that is a minor reach here is S-Hawk/Zoro and Whitebeard/Oden and I said that because it is all happening in this arc.
Scars on the Back
Endurance Freaks
Drunk
Bandana
Sacrificial Nature
World's Strongest Title
Shanks/Mihawk/Roger/Whitebeard
Both Having Demonstrative Personality
Sleeping CoO with Kaku
That face
All these are not reaches lmao.
They personalities are nearly identical
Rayleigh is far more like Shanks than he is like Zoro.
And yes it is Luffy insecurity if you read my entire post and say everything I said is reaching.
Who else besides Zoro/Whitebeard are given Scars on the back moments?
Bandanas are a traditional Pirate motif.
There are three types of characters. Durability freaks, speed freaks, and Endurance freaks. Rarely you find some that are a combination of the three. The options are limited here.
Excessive drinking is another Pirate motif. Plenty of characters do this.
Zoro seeks strength for the sole purpose of gaining a WS title. Whitebeard gained a WS title because he sought to have and protect a family and he needed strength to do it. The title Zoro wants isn't even the one Whitebeard held.
Shanks/Mihawk and Roger/Whitebeard were pirate rivals. Luffy/Zoro are Captain and Subordinate, like Roger/Rayleigh Whitebeard/Oden. Rayleigh and Oden shared a distinct bond with thier Captains, like Luffy and Zoro do.
All the Straw Hats have made that face.
Emphasis on scars on the back are unique to Zoro and Whitebeard, but never running from a fight, which is the implications behind it, are not.
One of Zoros biggest character traits is sleeping. He stayed back to protect the Sunny, and Oda had him doing one thing he loves to do when he has free time.
Hell, one can even argue the scene was a minor callback to Mihawks introduction where he annihilated the Krieg Pirates for disturbing his nap. Which fits much better.
Oda likes to use specific Storytelling elements for his different characters. Whitebeard and Zoro are meant to be badasses, so there being minor similarities in the way they are treated makes sense.
But when I think of parallels meant to be shared between two characters I'm thinking Rayleigh immediately flashing back to Roger during Sabaody when Luffy blew up on Usopp, or an image of Ryuma appearing who looks exactly like Zoro on Wano.
You know things like Ryuma was the Sword God, and Zoro wanting his name to reach the heavens as the World's Strongest Swordsmen.
When I see things like "they both wear bandanas." That's no different to me than "X character is related to Y character because they both have blonde hair."
