I've always been pretty certain that Zoro was supposed to be the one getting the eye patch.

Well, there's this sketch which appears to be early versions of Nami, Zoro, and Luffy.

It states he is "among some of the best in the world", not the best. It also states able to compete with Mihawk, but what's even intended with compete?

If you take any professional competition, every pro can compete with another pro, that doesn't imply they still don't get their asses manhandled.

No this needs to stop.........I didn't say much stronger but Zoro is a step above, he's a level above. Meaning you can put Zoro and Sanji against the same person and Zoro will always do better than Sanji.

If Zoro and Sanji fight 10 times Zoro wins every single time.

Their not interchangeable , their not equal. Zoro is stronger. Zoro Mid Diffed Kaku and Sanji Mid diffed Jabra.... They were both fine after their fights. Kaku was stronger than Jabra before the devil fruit and got even stronger after the devil fruit. We don't know how much but he got stronger, and Zoro still Mid Diffed Kaku. Being portrayed next to each other in moments is not enough to say their equal. Ans honestly you and a lot of people would enjoy the story a lot more if you didn't put Sanji on the same standing as Zoro. Cause right now people are at a point where if Sanji doesn't do exactly what Zoro's doing he's trash or Oda's doing him dirty and that's ridiculous.

not really, Luffy wasnt damaged because of his Haki, Zoro wasnt damaged because he could counter that, if zoro and luffy werent there, how could the other three defend themselves from mountain busting attack? They may dodge, but can they dodge if Kaido keeps spamming it? and if Kaido spams it the ground would definitely collapse

Zoro's role is really crucial in this fight

mihawk is probably as good of a swordsman as shanks. mihawk presumably beat someone else for the title, then they dueled and there was never a winner, then shanks lost his arm and t hey stopped dueling because now no matter what the result is mihawk looks bad. if he wins he just beat a guy who wasnt at his best and if he loses or ties again it means shanks was going easy on him before, because shanks was clearly using his sword with one arm, then lost it, then started using the other arm.

There's no proof Mihawk never fought Yonko Shanks, because it's very possible they had one more duel after Shanks became Yonko. Mihawk won and became the WSS, but was disappointed because two-arm Yonko Shanks would've been stronger.
