Hmm it’s pretty long and most of it doesn’t have anything to do with Zoro... there’s stuff about the closed country, the smiles and the Kouzuki clan but I can translate the part about Ryuma later on and tag you.

Nice! Time to start gathering panels. Mostly I think that Mihawk is much more layered character than he first appeared and this is evidenced by his relationships with Perona, Shanks and Zoro. He’s not some stereotypical one dimensional antagonist or an irredeemable asshole, he’s a complex character who values loyalty and honour. I just think people lose sight of that because of the rivalry between him and shanks.
Yeah, the Ryuma part is enough. Thanks in advance. ^~^

I wholeheartedly agree. I really dislike the stigma that stoicism = bland. A character doesn't have to be overly emotional to be layered or even human.

I consider Mihawk a neat reflection of what Luffy fears. A life of isolation. With all the talk of wills, or dreams, One Piece does address the topic of bonds. In the first chapter, Luffy says he wants a better crew than Shanks', and on the surface, it sounds like he just wants a stronger crew, and sure, but it could be deeper than that.

It's no accident Oda had Mihawk remark on Luffy's ability to form allies. Yeah, he has the will, the ambition (which he likely achieved), but he's lived a lonely life. One that Oda slowly peeling away by connecting him to various characters. And among them, a ghost girl who fittingly craves companionship.

I agree. Many just don't look at it, and see him as a bland, silent, typical cool guy with zero personality, which is wrong. I think a neat thread like that should be made. Be sure to tag me when you do.

Yo be sure to tag me as well. I love me some Godhawk :steef:

@Den_Den_Mushi I was going through some things, that @BossYimz mentioned, and I found this. Is this the thing that mentions a second Ryuma being born or smth like that?

第二のリューマと言える強靭な侍がすでに誕生しているかもしれない
It is possible that a strong samurai able to be called the ‘second Ryuma’ has been born.

The bit about Ryuma says that and focuses on retelling his dragon slaying adventure that has become legendary in Wano. So yeah... great hype for the grandmaster :catpole:

Btw I saw you saying that most people only like Mihawk because of Zoro ;( Do you think I should make a post or thread explaining why Mihawk is a great character in his own right?
Yes this is what I was referring to.

:steef::finally:

Zoro is like both Oden and Ryuma
Nah, Momo is like oden, Zoro is like Ryuma.
Other than Emma, and the inherited will to defeat Kaido and and open up Wano there is not much that related between the two.

With Ryuma on the other hand there is a lot liking the 2. Sword, slaying dragons, second ryuma being born and replicating Ryuma's feat of defeating a dragon. The resemblance, Zoro growing up in shimotsuki. Etc

That's true plus the fact that Zoro looks exactly like Ryuma
