I think most OP characters (except these damn princesses) are fairly unique. That being said, Whitebeard’s death scene gave me some really strong Zoro vibes. Despite not being a swordsman, Whitebeard was as proud and honourable as the best of them.
Mihawk and Zoro share superficial similarities such as being introverted and liking alcohol. However Zoro gets emotional much more easily and is clearly more literal and sensory than his master. While Mihawk is happy to laze around with a glass of wine and a newspaper, Zoro is all about training. You can see a clear change in Mihawk after Zoro lives with him, Mihawk finally gets off his arse and decides to fix his island after living there for 7 years and allowing debris to pile up everywhere. I can see where people are coming from when people say Zoro = X character but the differences are there if you look beyond the surface level.

Black blade is an aspect.......
Top tiers have a complete set of stats , a sword even if blackened will not put you there without the rest of skills.
Zoro turning his sword into a Kokuto....is like impossible ...or simply bad writing..
But FS in a day is ok...
So much hypocrisy there...

I think that Mihawk in the past was just like Zoro, all about training and has more emotions (you could see this by the way Oda draw child Mihawk with body full of bruises and eyes full of focus and determination). But after there's no one left to give him a challenge as swordsman, his emotional sense start to become dull gradually over time (like Saitama in OPM). And just as you say, Mihawk started to change after spend 2 years with Zoro, his emotions slowly returned. Perhaps it's because Zoro reminded him of his former self, or it could be because Zoro has given him hopes of a challenge that he has been longing for, it as if once again he has something to look forward to.
