Not a big fan of Oden from the first chapter so far but I’ll keep my mind open. I really want to see how Lady Toki and Oden met, some romance will be nice :amazing:
Yeah, gate crashing a funeral, using the deceased’s body as fire fuel to cook food and traumatizing the deceased’s family is a bit of a negative first impression to put it mildly. :sus:

It is about the second worst thing I have ever seen an author make a protagonist character do. :catrude:

there is so much info we need to have before the war
>How Oden met the scabbards and why they are loyal to him
>where is denjiro
>why is wano important to so many people
>what special powers did the kozuki clan have
>Rocks pirates and god valley(this is bound to be covered as the flashback is happening pre-god valley and Oden was likely a Rocks pirate via serving under whitebeard)
>how Orochi came to power, Oden's death

not going to lie I think this could go anywhere from 10-20 chapters and possibly take up the entirety of act 3 with 4 being about how the alliance got to Onigashima and 5 being the big battle

Neko isn't back yet either.

I would skip it, because:
The Wano Arc stretched to much with unnecessary stuff. Those 50+ (not sure how much exactly) chapter could gave us much more stuff than they actually did. And after we finally got close to the climax we get a FB...and this doesn't mean the FB will skip everything what is currently happening in the real time. We will get to see, where all of the People are, how they are gonna make it to onigashima, what ships they will using, traitor, etc. There is stil much to do until we get to the climax. This FB just stretches everything more. I am not saying the FB itself is a bad Thing, no it isn't, it will help us understand more of Kinemons, Wano's etc. backstory. But Oda just stretched to much stuff, that i just already want to see something happen...and i am not THAT interested about Oden. This FB will probably take us over a month, if it will have atleast 4 chapter...1 whole month or even more, until we see the Story progressing again...
Again, it doesn't mean the FB is bad and i am gonna hate it, i just want to see the main Story finally Progressing after all the stretching.
You expect all the shit Oden got caught up in to last only four chapters.... One chapter already passed and Oden hasn't even gone to Kuri yet and I'm sure the next chapter will just be him fightin this giant boar and he still won't be in Kuri.... Not to mention him sailing out of wano or fighting Kaido.... you actually expect this to really only last four chapters?

War can wait.
Flashback is more important to actually deliver impact on the war itself.
Without Oden flashback, without seeing the scabbard personality around Oden. Without seeing the smallest details about the group of allied Samurai the SHs are allied with.
NOTHING from the war around them will actually hold any impact.
People will just want to fast forward their screen time fight during the war to get to (Luffy/Law/Zoro/Sanji).

So, we have to get close to the 9 red scabbard so that, when Kinemon and co get a proper impact during the war, and so that the fans don't act like a whiny complaining viewers who say "I don't care about their fights, just skip them, and give me Luffy vs Kaido or Zoro vs XXX"

That shit will turn the war which is "supposedly better than Marineford" into just fans wanting two battles and skip others.

However, Oda has to make us attached to most prominant characters in the flashback.
It's the right way to actually make all the fights included during the war has a "meaning" and get a great deal of impact.

Just think of the SH grand fleet for a second during Dressrosa as an example.
Oda showed their battles and fights WITHOUT us having their backstory or their importance for the story. And the fans during Dressrosa couldn't handle a chapter or two for those characters having a battle of their own. People were like "I don't care about them, just skip their fight and show me the SH crew fights"

And after the arc finished and it turned out that Oda made all that screentime for them for a reason, the formation of SH grand fleet. Those same people retracted on what they said and started to understand the reason behind the amount of screentime.

So, NOO. Flashback first before the war begins. We need to get attached to the 9 red Scabbard, and we see who might actually be their matching enemies from the enemy side "Just like how Inu and Neku vs Jack was built in a right way" We need for the others to have specific characters from enemy side being built as an obstacle. And along with the tragedy they will have during the flashback and losing Oden...etc. That will make us WANT AND DESIRE their battles and not be skipped.

So, I disagree wholeheartedly. IF Oda skipped the flashback before the war, Oda basically will ruin the war and how impactful each fight and clash we are about to see, the war will be RUINED

I'm more hyped for Ryuma's flashback honestly
I dint thunk that will actually be a flashback... at best it will be like a story told to Zoro at the end of the arc and may have something to do with black blades and that's it... there's no necessity for añ actual flashback if it has no impact on the story... Even shusui was removed from the plot of the current story and stored for the end of the arc so there's very little plot relevance Ryuma actually has

I think that when it comes to flashbacks in Wano. I believe there will be 3 types of flashbacks:

1- Long Flashback (Oden):
It will be delivered BEFORE the war

2- Very small Flashbacks:
It will be delivered mid-battle for us to make us care more about the characters fighting as well as build motivation..etc. Also, it will be VERY SHORT, kinda like Baby 5 flashback, so that it does NOT disrupt the flow of battle and war. Rather, it just gives us more interest for the one who is fighting and make us more invested in them.

3- Mid length flashback (ryuuma):
the perfect way to tell it will be like in Skypea's Norland/Calgara, where it was told at the very END of the arc. Specially if the ending of the arc will have some historical info from Robin about the poneglyphs copies attained thus far, let alone Kozoki has ties with Anicient history. So, Ryuuma getting his shine probably will be at the VERY END.

There is a possibility that Shusui is only temporarily removed from the plot. It'd weird for the best sword of Wano to sit idly while everybody is fighting for Wano's freedom with whatever weapons they can find.

Plus, the Gyukimaru/Ushimaru thread has been left open.

You're not interested in :

- How oden became a WB commander ?
- How strong Oden was in his Prime ?
- How Oden Joined the Roger Pirates ?
- Oden vs Kaido ?
- How Oden met the 9 Scabbards ?
- Who Denjiro is ?
- How Orochi betrayed the Kozuki clan ?

Man if You're not interested in those things then what's the point of even reading the manga ?

Now I know a lot of this stuff is only gonna get shown in small snippets but still it's still very interesting and it'll likely add even more hype to the Wano War.

Flashback will cover life of oden

-After his banishment from wano
-Meeting Asura doji in kuri and developing the country and becomes damiyo
- Meets Whitebeard to join piracy in the sea.

I expect these three events to happen before we move to the onigashima war.

I know it's important to the story but i honestly don't care much bout Oden n his flashback, not yet atleast.

This latest chapter thread is probably the only one i didn't post in last year or so.

The timing of flashback also is another reasn, i mean just after teasing us the war in last few chapters, makin us so invested in it, only to throwball to a character we don't care much bout is something i am not fan of.

Ofcrs i understand a right flashback could also do wonders at this stage, makin thr emotional impact to the story, and i also probably will like the flashback later on, but waiting weeks for this in initial stages for a new character isn't something i look fwd to as otherwise.
I would rather want instead see the main story progressing, the stuff with characters i can relate with, they are what i am invested in the story for currently.
