Here's my Sanji's character analysis of chapter 1,005

A lot of people wanted Sanji this chapter to do the generic "I would rather die than talk" cool guy line.

But that's Pre-Timeskip Sanji

Sanji didn't wanna die a senseless death just because of his belief of not hurting a woman.
He had his friends that allowed him to keep his belief without dying.
That's what Strawhats do, they cover each other weaknesses.

That's why he trusted Robin can handle this for him as he tries to save his own life so that he could go do something else.

Characters that have no idea about Sanji's belief, think that a man calling for woman's help is pathetic and "unmanly" (notice how these characters get beat by Sanji easy).

While character like Marco thinks otherwise.

And of course the character that is affected by Sanji's actions the most- Robin, is the happiest we've ever seen her be and that's thanks to Sanji's actions.

So if Robin is happy that Sanji did this, I don't think anyone else's opinion matters on this matter.

Sanji isn't trying to be the generic cool guy like Zoro that would rather die than ask for help.
Sanji's actions are cool if you understand his character arc.

Sanji calling to Robin for help is great because it just reinforces that part of the reason the Strawhats’ side will succeed is genuine trust, friendship, and bonds.

Saying Sanji's character got ruined is just false if you know his character and what happened to him.

If you are saying that you didn't want Sanji to encounter females, that's alright.
But that doesn't mean the character got ruined, it just means you don't like the plot that Oda wrote. But Sanji's character's progression was good this chapter whether you like it or not.
Nice analysis. :pepelit: It mirrors my thoughts exactly. However I think Oda could have handled it way better. It's execution was very over the top and very lacklaster from his part in my opinion.

Yeah it's very underwhelming and unnecessary to be honest. Like, Oda could have just put Robin in there already and Sanji doesn't have to leak the location out. Oh well.

If Oda made some small changes in the scenario of BM and Sanji things could be infinitely better. For example:
- Instead of making it look like Sanji couldn't escape BM and her crew which as readers know that he's fully capable of doing it easily at that, Oda could have made it look like Sanji decided not to leave so he could keep BM and her crew occupied by him so they could not ambush his allies any further.
- Instead of being caught in BM's web as again Sanji could easily escape that with his flames, Oda could make that whenever one of women try to leave Sanji would intercept them and block their way. Concequently as he could not hurt them he would get beat by them but he's durable enough to withstand everything they throw at him as shown in the chapter with BM. So they'd end stalemating each other in that room.
- Instead of broadcasting his call for help for Robin, the latter could just come on her own and block an attack meant for Sanji. At that time we could have a moment between Robin and Sanji similar to this chapter where Sanji asks her to help him and take over this fight believing in her strength.

There are some other small things that could be changed too but these are the three major things for me. I'm not a writer but I think it could have been way better this way.:kayneshrug:

Didn't like the repeated plot at all, could have had any other SH run into BM instead Oda went with the one character he made that doesn't hit women.
But I've looked at Robin's thank you panel atleast 20 times, it's soo good.

What I woud have liked to see is Sanji being in control of the situation. Getting in Black Maria's head and intimidating her as if she was the one being captive. So not a physical win but a psychological one.

I agree that Sanji should have been potrayed more in controle of the situation even if he's faced with enemy women, his achilies heal, however in regard to intimidating BM I don't think it aligns with Sanji's character in being a chivalrous and a gentleman towards women. I just can't imagine Sanji trying to scare a woman like Zoro did with monet.

I also would have preferred a psychological win for Sanji over BM but in another way other than intimidation. Besides it would somewhat demish the hype of BM as a F6 before facing Robin if Sanji could scare her without even being violent or even slightly menacing towards her.

No, I didn' mean Sanji threatening her, but being confident, snarky and cheeky to the point of annoying or even worrying her.
