To be fair, since Doffy implied that Vergo could protect himself via haki against Law slash, back then people assume that Doffy knowledge about Law fruit was great since he search for that df for years.
And now years later it get confirmed with stronger haki you can block Law df power. Kinda happen that this get put up by Oda to nerf that df and overall all other op df powers(like Sugar).

Based on the spoilers, Law and Kidd pushed Big Mom and closed her chapter. They did their job, don't know what to expect more from them. Maybe some combo, attacks but nothing more.
