The bandana thing, I'm finding it likely to be an art error. But in either case with Big Mom knocked down it only makes sense for him to let the others fight while he takes his own ten minutes to recover.
Damage wise I'd say halfway between the Paw sample and finding the breath of all things. Which is bad considering the work ahead. Kaido himself isn't Daz where it's the simple matter of finding out how to hurt him, it's wearing him out. Zoro has one big shot left imo

Kaido's looms over Luffy's prone body. He raises his club to finish him off with a final attack. Koka concentrates at the tip of his club, just as he's about to bring it down on Luffy.

A brilliant flash. Roronoa Zoro lands behind Kaido's form holding Enma. The blade is engulfed in an aura of overflowing koka. There's a massive spurt of blood that erupts from Kaido's form, his eyes roll up back into his skull and he momentarily let's go of his club.
He's coming.
Turn around. I can't show him my back.
Body don't fail me now!
Zoro coughs up blood again. His body is shivering, but he manages to finally turn himself around. Just then.
Boom!
Thunder Bagua!
There's a shower of black lightning as Kaido's club slams into Zoro's head knocking him down.
Kaido jumps up and spins his club in the sky, a massive amount of koka gathers around it.
Three Realms: Ragnarok!
It slams down on Zoro's form, only to be blocked by three blades.
Ul Tora Gari!
Covered in blood, Zoro glares defiantly at the figure of Kaido above him.
He received the full force of our Hakai, and then took my Thunder Bagua head-on.
Yet he still had the strength to completely stop my Three Realms: Ragnarok?!?!
With their weapons locked, Kaido's eyes scan Zoro's form.
With those injuries, he has already placed one foot in grave.
Is this guy even human?!?!?!
While their weapons remained locked, Zoro coughs up blood.
Injuries that would kill a human...
I cannot lose to them.
Injuries that would cause a human to fall unconscious...
I cannot lose to them.
I must live to make Luffy the Pirate King...
I cannot allow myself to remain human!
With an exertion of Herculean effort, Zoro pushes, ending the stalemate and sending Kaido back.

Yeah, I would have gone for the entire line, but it felt too cheesy for a Zoro that was dead on his feet. The mood did not exactly feast.
That is the most prideful of boasts — the claim that you alone are worthy of honour and regard, that you alone matter — it doesn't fit someone as devoted and loyal as Zoro.
Maybe after activating his upgraded Asura he can say it.

I have my issues with the lack of great character moments he was given post time skip, because this is the kind of stuff i loved most about him. The latest chapter though, that was top notch quality, best he's got since TB and arguably best any SH got post time skip. For me personally, it was the best character moment a SH got post time skip.
So yeah, Zoro remained my second favorite based on my pre time skip attachement, and when we're getting this kind of stuff he jumps up there at Sanji's side, loving both these bastards with all their faults and ups and downs
