Zoro can only fight fliers who come to him due to PIS or bad battle environment with low ceilings.

He can't face Kaido without teleport help, and can't fight him 1vs1 anyway.
Same for BM, he can deal with ONE of her homies, and she is a slow tank who *can* fly, not someone like King whose whole style revolves around fast flight.
Kaku didn't really bother to use his gepou intelligently and he was fighting indoors, Monet was a weakling retard.

Ranged slashes are not enough for a convincing battle against a flying speedster like King.

Hawkins can survive King's Sword Attacks, his Straw Monster can Fly & both Him & the Monster use Swords
As for Power Level, Hawkins unlike Apoo is a New Recruit so nothing proves he couldn't become one of Flying Six
And to beat King, he needs to Draw Powerful Cards (As he said himself, some Cards allow him to Surpass his Limits)
Also Card Reading will be important for Hawkins to learn more about King's Race & what's Special about it
