Kaido feels COC after getting hit by Zoro, not by feeling Haki waves emanating from him which could only mean the attack contained COC. He also goes on to say it's no wonder the attack will leave a mark further confirming he's talking about the COC in the attack.

We then get the confirmation that your attacks can be imbued with COC, that they work well on Kaido and that only the strong can use it implying that it's not something all COC users can do.

It's not that hard to process 1+1=2, is it? It's not advanced COC though, just an advanced application of it.
