I don't think he knew Yamato had a Devil Fruit. None of the F6 seem to know.

Considering he was defying the laws of nature, physics, man, and any other kind by standing up after what he got hit by 20% doesn’t sound totally unreasonable.

I am sorry but HP =/= AP...it is not as if "fresh" version did a better job...afterall fight didn't start with "hakai"...and let us not go deep into laws of physics much because One Piece follows different laws....afterall enraged half brain Whitebeard did more damage to Akainu than so called fresh WB....

I unironically think Oda forget about Zoan Awakening.

Maybe the calamities and Kaido are already using it but we just don't know. A zoan fruit increases durability and strength, awakening enhances df power, so zoan awakening is just them being tougher with more recovering ability.
So perhaps they use it, we just don't know it yet.

I don't really see the difference between 1009 and 1000 Luffy.

Kaido tanked a Kong Gun from 1000 Luffy with negligible damage, but dodged a Gomu Gomu no Red from 1009 Luffy. The difference wasn't massive, but it was there.

Seeing Kaido fight against someone with an identical fighting style would be interesting, I want to see more of Base Kaido's fighting style.

Yeah, this is something I'm looking forward to in Yamato vs Kaido.

We haven’t even gotten most of the flying six nor calamity hybrids yet. It’s too soon to reveal any potential awakening forms but I expect to get them. Kaido played his hybrid hand too early for it to be his last trump card.

Yamato isn't fighting anyone else than Kaido. If she does, it won't be a beast pirate.
She will get defeated or about to be just before Luffy comes back.
Her only possible 1v1 other than Kaido is a weakened Jack after she is weakened herself, not something very exciting tbh

In a manga like One Piece being in a "weakened" state will only really matter when you're straight up unconscious or can't move, like how Zoro is right now, and even then pretty much everyone expects Zoro to recover and do something else.

I agree for Kaido but awakening doesn't have to be a form.
The awakened zoan from Impel Down were most likely the work of Vegapunk.

The flying 6 don't have awakening, even calamities are not sure to have it.

Don't forget, Yamato was cuffed with seastones, the flyers would have it easier to caught her since Yamato was nerfed asf with the seastones. We know even haki get effected by seastones, no devilfruit power and also limited movement. And yet Yamato was still a big threat to caught up.

im doubt that the flyers would get send out if King would know that Luffy break Yamato seastones.
