That's exactly what happened, it's not first time Oda has done this look at croc in mf.

Doffy is below the top yonkou comaders. Cracker was sent to defeat Luffy knowing that Luffy defeated Doffy. That same cracker had no issue dealing with g4 while Doffy got rag dolled by it.
