Whenever we hear about D. Clans, we see people saying "they will bring the dawn"
they bring storms (the change)
Oda's first manga is named Romance Dawn! Not forgetting the characters are identical.

Here is my theory and speculations:

Laugh Tale island is where the Dawn clan lived as part of the ancient Kingdom. They were cheerful people, smiling even in front of death.

We know that Dawn is the first light prior sunrise, the beginning of the day.
So What happens when pirates see the dawn? They cheer up and party! it always bring a smile on people's face.

I believe there are 7 families of Dawn's clan:
1. Monkey Dawn
2. Marshall Dawn (i believe they are the traitors , they have abnormal bodies)
3. Gol Dawn
4. Portgas Dawn (they have red hair)
5. Jaguar Dawn (they are mainly Giants)
6. Trafalgar Dawn
*7. Rocks Dawn

?! What is JOY BOY family? Is a Monkey D or Gold D.?

Gol means a Mild Oath! Remember Rogers? Yup the dude believed it and took oath to find out.
Monkeys are cheerful and cheeky
Jaguars are strong big cats;
Trafalgar is a mountain in Spain, we see that Law even cut a mountain.
Marshall comes from Mare (french word) which means Horse and Skalzozz which means Servant.
Portgas is a combination of Port and Gas...
*Rocks are solid matters used for construction, battles etc, something people relies on.

I conclude with "A person when he sees the Dawn, will take a mild oath as he is on the mountain looking strong and cheerful. "

Each family name resembles the character's attitudes and path.

Bt i think it's pretty early to say for sure. Bt i am pretty certain it won't mean Devil and Dream also seems unlikely.

A long time ago I created a theory where I said that all D fallowed by their family name represented actually a nobiliar name like the D stands their to be interpreted like House of, in italian it's used like della in Spain we have something like the name of the actual king Felipe Juan Pablo Alfonso de Todos los Santos.

In my theory all D are from different branches of the royal family created by former kings and the last name like in case of luffy Monkey was the name the king took so all his offspring will be known as Name and then of the house of the monkey.

I took inspiration from the inca way of creating new branches of nobility.
