Imagine we are back in 2015 and the chapter of Kaido jumping from sky island has just come out and the Japanese raws hqve his name as “100 beasts kaido” because that is the literal word for word of what Oda always uses to name kaido and you hear the japanese Fans are discussing the literal meaning of “100 beasts”


Then the official translates it as “King of beasts Kaido”… Anha, sp what will you care about? The japanese literal word for word or the official who actually translates the words to mean what Oda means.

The official APPARENTLY already translated this to “have Luffy’s back”… its over… The words dont matter. The meaning of the words is what matters

We all know what the translation means and we all know the significance it has to both zoro and sanji as it pertains to Luffy’s character but here some of y’all are choosing to ignore that and argue based on semantics and headcanons like is it that serious tho?

we all know zoro is a more powerfully character and hold a greater significance to luffy than sanji that’s a fact however what is wrong in seeing both of em as the wings of luffy? That’s also a fact as well! Sanji and zoro being wings don’t necessarily means they are equal in terms of strength and if you view it that way then that’s on you lol

I believe the native japanese speakers when they say the literal words “two wings” or whatever were used. Thats fine. But literal words arent how translations work

Do those Native japanese speakers also speak fluent English? No? Then they arent who we should care about when translating thing from one language to another

if word for word translation is how translations worked then google translate woukd have made translators in general obsolete
