What you need to understand is that Oda will always put Zoro to achieve more feats than Sanji, and overall look better strengthwise, which makes sense, thats his official role in the crew. In the end he will put them together to settle down that there is a pretty solid gap between them, and both of them know it.

Sadly you're sticking with "Zoro's goal has to do with strength, he can't never be close to Sanji or placed alongside with Sanji", and clearly thats not how Oda sees them in the crew. Otherwise Sanji could be placed as a complete cook and Oda could replace him with Jinbei or something, which is most likely confirmed that this isn't happening

Luffy just wants to be the pirate king, he fights cuz it's needed, Whitebeard wanted a family and ended up being basicly equal to Roger, the same thing works for Sanji. Beating Mihawk is Zoro's personal goal, it doesn't debunk Sanji from being atleast close in strength.

Zoro spelling how many men he is worthy rubbing it in Sanji's face is not necessarily synonym of a consistent rivalry. Zoro is so stronger than Sanji that this phantomatic rivalry is not even worthy being called like that if it was in place so it's a feeble one at best.

Sanji was pretty serious against Luffy and said him to defend himself and knocked him out with a few kicks, does it mean something for you too?

Be glad that Oda still serious about them cuz if he decided to give the exactly same feats for Zoro and Sanji, Zoro's role would be completely useless cuz Sanji would be able to do everything Zoro does with less effort. I don't think the odds for Zoro not to defeat Kaido independently from ZKK hang low, conversely, I made a case recently:

We now acknowledged that Yamato will attempt to buy some time before Luffy is up, which was obvious. Luffy might not be good enough to solo Kaido next and Zoro will have to help him out in that instance.
