I have read the Momotaro tale. I am still confused about why fans think Marco will represent the pheasant. What connection does he actually have to Momonosuke? Why would Oda set up this whole New Gen vs Old Gen conflict and say "yup Marco needs to be here!"

He is a bird just like Yamato is a dog, and he was good friends with Oden, Ace and was there when Momo was born and named

I would say it's been a long week but it's only Tuesday, so I don't have any excuse for forgetting that detail! I always think Momonosuke and Roger are connected while Marco and Whitebeard are connected. I just compartmentalize.
