I'm saying both coz as he blocked it ironically he was getting damaged... if you remember the panel where he screams for them SN's to get out of the way and he's seemingly bleeding from his mouth. he blocked it until law teleported.. if he had let go.. then i don't think zoro would have survived honestly coz that would have been a direct impact to his body.. here I'm assuming that while he blocked it he kept the attack a but away from him...now taking that into consideration.. Luffy is a CoC specialist, Zoro is not. Luffy has been actively using CoC for 400 chapters longer than Zoro, and Kaido still thought it unthinkable that Luffy would be able to use adv CoC...

Luffy is a haki genius and has internal destruction haki, which Zoro doesn't, despite being a CoA specialist, there is skill transfer in being able to use internal destruction CoA to being able to learn CoC coating...

Luffy had to be hit by adv CoC three times for his haki genius to kick in. Zoro has been hit once, indirectly, by adv CoC.

you have a point.. a very good one for that fact..Luffy is proficient in Coc.. doesn't mean what he's capable with Coc zoro would be able to master it to that extent...what of zoro is only able to imbue it in ashura... let not forget enma's haki absorption....hmmm

Then kid also can do that luffy simple learn CCOC and zoro doesn't because oda said kid is luffy's rival.
