That doesn't matter. A true swordsman focuses on his blade. He won't just pick up a gun along with it when he feels like it. Mihawk using a gun in one hand would actually nerf him, because he wouldn't be able to utilize the full strength of his swordsmanship.

When Zoro didn't have access to his swords, he had to use fists in a fight. When he was handcuffed to Usopp, he had to use him as a weapon. Because he was nerfed. But Roger was unnerfed and yet used a pistol. It's like Mihawk vs. Shanks will randomly use a gun in one hand.
