Speculations Why does Mihawk no longer duel with Shanks?

#1
Mihawk while meeting shanks says,"Why would I duel with someone who lost his left arm?"
Is that because Mihawk thinks Shanks has lost his power after losing arm?
OR
Is it because Mihawk thinks Shanks dishonoured his rivalry by losing his dominant hand and mihawk feels disrespected?
I think its the latter because Mihawk dueled with zoro even though he was weaker than him, so it doesnt make sense for him to not to duel just because shanks lost his strength.

I made this thread by taking an idea from this video:

If he duels a "One armed Shanks and loses" it would be a huge blow to his ego
Nah. Mihawk waits for someone to take him down. Even willing to train that swordsman himself. He refuses to fight because Shanks nerfed himself and is no longer at his strongest. It might be a personal thing too; Shanks sacrificed his arm for something he deemed more important than the rivalry with Mihawk, so Mihawk, in turn, also refuses to fight his former rival for that reason. It was Shanks abandoning the rivalry by sacrificing his arm.

I see it more like Dory and Brogy. Those two fought evenly for 100 years, and when Brogy won, he was ecstatic that their long term rivalry had come to an end, and he was the victor. But then he found out that Dory was injured prior to their fight, and that victory no longer felt fulfilling.

Luffy was even going to tell Brogy about it, but Dory stopped him knowing that Brogy would not accept the battle if he knew Dory was injured before hand, and Dory's pride as a warrior would not allow for him to not participate in the fight.

That would be the same thing for Mihawk. If he had been fighting Shanks for years and to our knowledge there was never a victor, then he wouldn't be able to fight Shanks after he lost his arm, because to him that would be an empty victory if he won.

Ask yourself this: If you're WSS and your former rival lost his dominant arm to Lord of Coast, would you bother fighting him anymore? :luffydab:

Because Mihawk knows that 1-arm Shanks isnt better than 2-arms Shanks.
Their duels are hype from the past, no top tiers duel each other in present.
It serves no purpose and can only kill the hype of one - see Aokiji/Fujitora.
The nitpickers these days are looking for Huff Huff, it's better to give them nothing.

What the heck why is this answer so solid?! I was thinking until the pride thing and Shanks nerfing himself but i didnt ever thought the possibility of Mihawk getting back at Shanks turning down their rivalry like that. If Mihawk really felt that, then my respect for him as a character will just skyrocket

Because there’s no point to it. Shanks was left handed and no matter how strong you are you’re less dexterous with your non dominant hand so his swordsmanship is weaker than it once was.

Beating him in swordsmanship has no satisfaction, losing to him in swordsmanship would feel worse.

pride

its not a PU thing.

Mihawk don't want to duel a Shanks that in his spirit can't give his best or his handicaped.

But also Shanks bet his arm on the new gen, became a Yonko etc. Shanks clearly took a step aside from their rivalry and from the sword duels with Mihawk and I think Mihawk knows it and respects it.
Mihawk just roasted yonko shanks front of his crew. and said he is not worth for his time something like that.
