On the point of this thread, it’s pretty clear that Oden resembles Luffy the most. Everything about his personality and his disposition reflect more towards Luffy. The things he shares with Zoro are largely aesthetic, he uses swords and he is subordinate to people far more powerful than him. That’s it.

The parallel hype train stopped by last chapter.
We all know the whole parallel hidden agenda is to push "Zoro will leave Wano stronger than Oden" which is impossible by now, when Oden already endured named attack from Roger, and he never fainted but instead tried to counterattack.
Meanwhile Wano Zoro got fainted by nameless stab from Killer who didn't use his signature weapons.

Oh of course Oda just has a supreme lack of imagination when naming Oden's fighting style... I mean surely he just ran out fighting styles in the vast array of whatever is possible and chose to model Oden's fight style by Zoro's at random... I'm sure Oda himself hasn't even noticed that he's essentially repeating a very specific fighting style of a fuckin main character when he writes for Oden and it's all one big coincidence

What about how his story plays out... things like his journey through wano and how he meets his wife being basically mirror images of Zoro's story in wano... I mean surely the aesthetics are one thing but literal plot elements are another... Like Fuckin Enma is surely not some random thing that is just there since it occupied like half of the entire second act with how much story was put in to justify Zoro replacing his sword...
If you read through the thread, there's not much talk about Oden's personality but since when are personalities the defining trait of a character in order to notice a parallel... Like Roger IS NOT some proto Luffy, there are very clear personality differences between the two and that doesn't stop them from obviously javing parallels to one another... In fact the main source of parallels between Roger and Luffy are from their general story construction with plot elements literally matching the two specficially such as the Voice of a result things and the general journey Luffy takes... How is this not enough to justify A Zoro-Oden Parallel when the two have also have matching story construction with plot elements like Enma as well
See, you are picking a specfic thing to say that that one thing isn't there and so there isn't anything else yet I can use your wxact words to say Luffy and Roger don't have parallels since specifically their personal ties aren't mirrors of each and you and I both know I would be plain lying by saying that...
And btw, Oden having parallels to Luffy as well has ZERO bearing on whether he can have parallels to Zoro as well... Like I don't know why people keep bringing this up as some kind of rebuttal... These aren't mutually exclusive events, you know that right?

He isn't even exactly like luffy to begin with... There are clear difference between the two like all that shit Oden got up to as a kid and his general brashness and him being a loner who doesn't go around looking for friends like luffy and Oden fucks women so that's an even greater difference and Oden wants to learn about his ancestry whereas Luffy doesn't care about whether he even has around father or not and Oden keeps a journal to record his experiences while Luffy would think something like that is stupid and would just want to live in the moment and forget the shit that's not interestin

It’s a rather odd day for you to try and say “Well ackshully, Roger and Luffy aren’t really similar,” given the chapter that we just got that again confirms the contrary, as well as previous commentary from other characters that includes three different members of Roger’s crew, including his best friend.
Having his sword does not make Zoro Oden. Other than aesthetic, surface level stuff, Zoro is not like Oden. His demeanor, the way he acts and operates, are far more like Luffy.
I did not say "Roger and Luffy aren't similar" I said they Roger isn't some kind of proto Luffy... As in there are clear personality differences between the two that even Rayleigh has pointed out... Same as there are clear personality differences between those Luffy and Oden despite their differences

oden personality wise is luffy but fights a lot like zoro.

The only legit parallels are with the Roger Pirates and Ryuma in my opinion.
