Questions & Mysteries Why Roger îs not a swordman

#65
So anybody who uses or carries one is one?
Anyone who shows his true strength through them is called a Swordman if you ask me.

Roger is a swordsman
Zoro dream is about Sword skill and not over all power
WSS is about Sword skill and not over all power

Roger > EoS Zoro... and the gap is not even that small
Ah again the headcanon .

Oda prepared a jury to qualify Zoro skills EoS...
:lawsigh:

Idk if it's worth to kill of neurons to hate swordmans in a pirate manga...

Why are you asking me? I have the feeling you can´t simply discuss something constructively, either you mock something or get emotional.
I asked for your definition and have not stated yet what mine is, and btw, it´s not about the code.
i ask you simply to discuss and exchange of ideas tho as long as u bring something discussable without ulterior motives to just shit on characters. my definition of swordsmen is simple , who uses tool which named as sword.

On the definition of swordsman ...one piece standards. One is a swordsman if;
1. Stated by Oda to be such
2. Fights primarily with a sword
3. Fights at their strongest with a sword.

These can be individual or a combination.
Under 1, we have Fugi , Law, Zoro, etc
Under 2, we have Zoro, Mihawk, Fugi, Shiki, Roger (could fit here based on facts we know) etc
Under 3, the above mentioned, Roger, Kizaru (from what we know vs Ray), Ray , Brook etc.

Just holding a sword doesn't make you a swordsman. Being trained in swordsmanship at just a particular point in life doesn't make you a swordsman. Marines are automatically thought swordsmanship when they are rookies. Just like Copy and Helmeppo. At that moment, they would be considered as swordsmen since that is their default position as Marines. However, as they grow, they move towards what fighting style they like. Coby became a fighter by focusing more on brawling than swords and Helmeppo decided to fight with knives.

To be one, swords are to be constantly used by the character especially when they are fighting seriously.

Zoros dream is strongest swordsman not most skilled! Zoro has never showed skills in any of his feats just raw in adulterated strength
And even if he never dreamt to be the strongest of all times Oda will still turn the new gen the strongest

What will happen if mihawk and vista will die
zoro will be the last swordsman ?:feelscryingman:
Why putting Mihawk and Vista together in the first place hmmmmm

Is Kizaru a swordsman?
Yes, Kizaru is a swordsman

he was strong enough with the sword to spar with Rayleigh and in a pure sword fight, he could have easily beaten people who are confirmed swordsmen like Law and pre-skip zoro.

Does that mean that he has to be weaker than mihawk? No, because Mihawk's title, presumably is only relevant if he beats his opponent in a sword duel. For example, if Mihawk fights big mom and big mom beats mihawk with a hurricane instead of with Napoleon, then big mom ISN'T WSSM.

Kizaru has many fighting styles, swordsman being one of them

Nah, Roger is still a swordsman but he's just a basic one, that's why he didn't even bother turning his blade black.:josad:
he even has a named sword attack, he is definitely a swordsman, but he didn't rely on his sword skill alone, heck he even use pistol at some point.

Yes, Kizaru is a swordsman
He is not a swordsman, though. At least not in sense of Zoro and Mihawk.

he was strong enough with the sword to spar with Rayleigh and in a pure sword fight, he could have easily beaten people who are confirmed swordsmen like Law and pre-skip zoro.
Correction: Kizaru was strong enough to spar with a rusty old Rayleigh who hasn't touched a sword since decades - and Ray still cut his cheek during a short clash.
Kizaru doesn't have to use his sword to destroy Law and pre-TS Zoro.

Does that mean that he has to be weaker than mihawk?
No, since swordsmanship isn't his main forte.

Kizaru has many fighting styles, swordsman being one of them
He can perform skilled swordsmanship but if we look at the OP lore, he isn't considered to be a swordsman in sense of Zoro and Mihawk.
There are even far less reasons to consider Kizaru as a swordsman instead of Roger, lol.
