There's no insecurity, this isn't a thread about headcanon perception about their rivalry, this specific thread presents the argument that the rivalry is forced because of strength concerns which is a flawed perception since the origin and main driving force of the rivalry are their characters which means strength can't affect it, Zoro or Sanji could get paralyzed for the rest of the series and they would still bicker because they don't like each other.
In a Goku/Vegeta scenario the driving force of the rivalry is Vegeta's inferiority complex over someone who is stronger than him but in the case of One Piece Zoro and Sanji don't like what they see each other as, a shallow womanizer or simple brute.

Yes some of these moments are funny and their rivalry has no major implications on the story but it’s clearly more than a gag, it’s real and it’s how they primarily interact. You guys hate when people call luffy and zoro’s fight a gag because of how nami ended it but a rivalry that has been much more prevalent throughout the series somehow is a gag?

it isn’t a goku and vegeta rivalry because it’s not just about strength. They aren’t equals in strength but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a rivalry and compete over many things. Why am I even wasting my breath though, y’all will just say “you’re making it about strength and saying they’re equals in power” anyways. The insecurity over zoro’s strength is real and I don’t get it because he’s plenty strong enough but any time Oda portrays them in the same league, y’all start getting all hot and bothered lol. Zoro is STRONGER but sanji isn’t a weakling by comparison and he isn’t astronomically behind, I don’t understand why that’s so hard for fanboys to accept.

But then again Sanji was introduced 4th after Zoro, Nami and Usopp and during his intro both Zoro and Luffy impressed him with their determination so no it wasn't since day 1.
Their bickering over petty stuff started in Little Garden which is in the Grandline and always initiated by Sanji (like he does with any male he percieves as a ''menace'' in terms of strength) you don't see Sanji bickering with Usopp or Brooke but he does with Zoro or Jimbei

You need not be equally strong to have a rivalry. And rivalry isn't always about strength. Zoro's rivalry with Sanji isn't forced; it's a well established dynamic. The only sad part about it is people using this dynamic to create equality b/w them.
