They said whatever they said because Marco's the only one besides the Yonko who had enough resources to even consider fighting BB. They actually tried and utterly failed, as a matter of fact. Marco's never a top-tier or anywhere close to it.

I think the whole he kept two calamities thing is just exaggerated, but that's a discussion for another day. The prime reasons for Marco's fall IMO are King and the exhaustion from fodder healing. Of course, Marco would've lasted a lot longer and fared a lot better without outside interferences. But again, King kept up with hybrid Marco in base for the most part. Exhausted or not, Marco's hybrid ain't going from top commander level to Cracker level just like how Boundman's strength won't be decreased to Snakeman level just because Luffy's exhausted.

Why exaggerated Marco himself said he can't hold them off for too long it was clearly taking a toll on his powers, at one point managed to overpower them both, while healing himself + many others

It simply means King's slashes are stronger lol. And it isn't that big of a deal since this is like one of the many side bonus abilities of Kaido while that might very well be King's main fighting style.

We saw Zoro's tatsumaki counter Dragon Kaido's tatsumaki.
