This scene is often misinterpreted.
Zoro is not putting Luffys dream above his own.
On the contrary.
What this scene really shows is:

Zoro says that if he is unable to even protect Luffys dream then his own dream would be impossible to reach anyways.
This makes it sound as if Zoros dream is above protecting Luffys in terms of difficulty.

"if I die here then I am a man who could only make it this far"
Zoro is well aware that he might not have what it takes to become WSS.
His willingness to sacrifice himself for Luffy only shows his compassion and that he is able to accept complete defeat. And nothing more.

Yikes is definitely still “in,” at least in my vernacular.

OT: Zoro put his life on the line for his captain independent of either one’s dreams, full stop. Him facing Kuma felt automatic, instinctual, like he was meant to do it from the start...this series is about supporting your friends’ dreams just as fervently as you pursue your own, even if that means sacrificing one for the other. Obviously, one of the protagonists wouldn’t perish halfway through the series, but had Zoro died in this moment, his will would have lived on in someone else; A Man’s Dream Never Ends, etc.

Luffy has to do a hella lot to become pirate king. With one of those things obviously finding a good and strong enough crew.
Luffy to achieve his dream has to put himself against the world

Go against the world government

• Not only go against the marines which obviously consist of the admirals, vice admirals, ect
• Hes also made enemy of the shichibukai as a whole mihawk technically including
• Along with everything else the wg has under them like cipher pol and even imu and the gorosei

Thats not even include the yonko

• With 2 of them even holding on to red poneglyphs
• And each individually a humongous ass threat with their own power along with their crews and allies

Theres also the other strong pirates going after the one piece. While there's probably other people wanting to be wss the only ones we know are zoro and kuinas dead ass
