General & Others Oda Isn’t a Good Writer According to Pixar

did you learn the word cult in last week kid?
that's why you use it so much?

but you are not the first fool who think he understand jackshit about "what is a good story"
that's why you can't even understand why your very logic is wrong
and expect an answer for a wrong logic

by all means ... be wrong ... see if I care
maybe one day you can think and talk like an adult
Still avoiding my question huh?

Why rule 19 doesn’t apply to mangaka. Why is it okay to create convenient plot devices out your ass all the time in order to escape threats?
lol ... rule 19 imply to all stories (I said that MYSELF and now you ask me about it?)

but listing 21 rules ... any rules ... and saying " a good story should follow this number of rules" is wrong as fuck

1 rule can imply to endless things
but as numbers go higher the odds of a list being universal will go down expeditiously

this is not even art logic ... just basic statistics

Your exact quote , “ putting ANY rules for general measurement of 2 different type of story is wrong ” so you do feel 19 is a good rule. Now how about rule 2, 7 and 19?

Don’t you think it’s important to come up with the ending of your arc before you start writing out your ass (Oda admitted doing this)? Don’t you think it’s important, not to add filler to the story just because it’s “fun for Oda as a writer” (Oda admitted to this in WCI)? Don’t you think it’s important to “identify your character” so that you don’t have your writing regress other characters in order for your main character to look “cool” (Oda has done this lots of times)?

let's judge this ....

first of all coming up with ending is too ambiguous of a term

we have first draft
we have final draft

and some times this 2 thing are only 5% similar

in a Pixar movie ... they can CHANGE the first draft ... cause no one is looking at their first draft
but Oda don't have this luxury ... cause he is publishing his story on a weekly bases
so this logic CAN'T imply to a story like one piece cause doing that is impossible

btw
some one like R. L. Stine writes his ending first
some one like Stephen King will insult the fuck out of everyone who do this (as he publicly said it)

so ... 2 world famous writers have 2 different ideas about this "rule" and both of are are best sellers
how on the fuck name you can say what you just said is a RULE

for some writers and some stories ... it works
for some writers and some stories ... it kills the story

Oda admitted that he knows the ending of One Piece. He admitted he knew the ending of Marine Ford. But he did admit he didn't know the ending of WCI nor Wano. So wtf are you talking about? you are just using the excuse of "weekly manga" to justify your point. Kishimoto Knew the ending between Itachi and Sasuke. Kishimoto knew the ending of Jariya. Kishimoto knew the ending of the pain arc. Isayama knew the ending of how Eren will go back to the basement. Isayama new the ending of his arcs. What is your point? There is countless of examples of Mangaka who have weekly or monthly releases that knew the ending of their arcs.

Oda had an idea about ending one piece in 5 years = first draft
One piece is going on for + 25 years = final draft

Oda didn't knew how to end the war = first draft
Oda adding Shanks for ending the war = final draft

no writer on earth can know his final draft without actually write it

you talk as if you know Oda on a personal level but you don't know the most basic things about how he plans his plots or how he thinks ... maybe no man on earth do

so stfu ... and go watch your Pixar movies and don't come here talk about storytelling when your knowledge is barely more than a monkey
I refuse to waste my time over a child's ignorance madness

Oda in his own words admitted to it in interviews dumbass! Wtf are you babbling about? There are countless of weekly mangaka who knew the ending of their arcs! Stop playing semantics with “first draft” “final draft”. That isn’t the point! The point is if they have a contextual idea of what the ending is. Not if they have already written in paper.

any writer in the history on mankind know the general ending of their story but not the actual one before writing it
some times they are 95% similar sometimes they are 5% similar

all Oda said was he don't know how to beat Kaido and you take this as "he didn't knew how to end wano" :suresure:
while the statement prove he knew Wano will end by Kaido's defeat (and more)

watch this ... it might help you .. god knows you need it :suresure:

Dude you write a whole lotta nothing in your replies. Him not knowing how to defeat a main anatagonist he has build up for 8 fucking years is a huge issue because his writing is now suffering which was the whole point of the rule!

Kishimoto knew how to defeat itachi. Kishimoto knew how to defeat Pain. These are main antagonists that he knew how they will be defeated. Don’t give me that weekly crap.

Oda had 8 years to understand how to defeat Kaido not one week . He had since punk hazard to develop the story of the defeat of Kaido and he failed and now the writing is suffering because Oda keeps stalling and giving unjustified power ups just for Them to keep up.

Pixar has 22 rules of writing which they believe is necessary when they write their scripts and Oda breaks almost every rule lmfao:
  1. You admire a character for trying more than for their successes.
  2. Keep in mind what’s interesting to you as an audience, not what’s fun to do as a writer. They can be very different.
  3. Trying for theme is important, however you won’t see what the story is actually about until you’re at the end of that story. Now rewrite.
  4. Once upon a time there was ___. Every day, ___. One day ___. Because of that, ___. Because of that, ___. Until finally ___.
  5. Simplify. Focus. Combine characters. Hop over detours. You’ll feel like you’re losing valuable stuff but it sets you free.
  6. What is your character good at, comfortable with? Throw the polar opposite at them. Challenge them. How do they deal?
  7. Come up with your ending before you figure out your middle. Seriously. Endings are hard, get yours working up front.
  8. Finish your story, let go even if it’s not perfect. In an ideal world you have both, but move on. Do better next time.
  9. When you’re stuck, make a list of what WOULDN’T happen next. Lots of times the material to get you unstuck will show up.
  10. Pull apart the stories you like. What you like in them is a part of you; you’ve got to recognize it before you can use it.
  11. Putting it on paper lets you start fixing it. If it stays in your head, a perfect idea, you’ll never share it with anyone.
  12. Discount the 1st thing that comes to mind. And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th – get the obvious out of the way. Surprise yourself.
  13. Give your characters opinions. Passive/malleable might seem likable to you as you write, but it’s poison to the audience.
  14. Why must you tell THIS story? What’s the belief burning within you that your story feeds off of? That’s the heart of it.
  15. If you were your character, in this situation, how would you feel? Honesty lends credibility to unbelievable situations.
  16. What are the stakes? Give us reason to root for the character. What happens if they don’t succeed? Stack the odds against.
  17. No work is ever wasted. If it’s not working, let go and move on – it’ll come back around to be useful later.
  18. You have to know yourself: the difference between doing your best & fussing. Story is testing, not refining.
  19. Coincidences to get characters into trouble are great; coincidences to get them out of it are cheating.
  20. Exercise: take the building blocks of a movie you dislike. How d’you rearrange them into what you DO like?
  21. You gotta identify with your situation/characters, can’t just write ‘cool’. What would make YOU act that way?
  22. What’s the essence of your story? Most economical telling of it? If you know that, you can build out from there.
Man that just looks like a lotta homework that Oda not willing to put out
