Hmm, I'm guessing aside from the shape, due to the dough and that they have similar ingredients maybe? A topping of tomatoes, peppers, onions meat and herbs? Maybe it's done to help people relate to them and want to try them?
It is very different despite some similarities ofc but I think it might be done for tourists and such?
When I was on holiday in Turkey, the tourists would refuse to eat anything Turkish, well anything they didn't recognise or had "weird names" and they all gravitated towards the english food section of the hotel's food service and just had pizza, chips, omelettes etc everyday, it was depressing to watch. I was trying the Turkish food and loving it!
