General & Others Does the Fandom even know what it wants

#1
For years the fandom complained about Oda not following his Traditional formula and how he should stop trying to subvert expectations

Oda does exactly that in Wano which is the most Alabasta/El lite arc of the Post Timeskip and you know what happens?

The fandom Complains that Oda is not taking risks and is sticking to a winning formula

Does the fandom even realise how contradictory their complaints are? Do people just complain for the sake of complaining?

And every Arc follows the same forumla.Maybe something new would be good. Not each arc needs a useless princess(or Momo
When Oda did something new by separating the Strawhats in Dressrossa

The fandom had an uproar. I was their when it happened

For years everyone complained about the Strawhats not getting Proper one on ones. And when they get them everyone complained about how it's too cliche

People can't complain about both Oda doing something new and oda Sticking to formula at the same time

Oda isn’t endearing enough of this forum (largest sample we can gather) to the characters introduced in Wano. Oda hasn’t given the Straw Hats (according to this forum) enough time on their own to be characters and not set pieces.

Those are the biggest issues I hear, just a lack of attachment to the characters

"The" fandom isn't a thing. There are many fans with many different opinions that make up a fandom. This ain't some collective hive mind.

Different people want different things so obviously not everyone can get what they want. Sometimes folk get their thing and are happy, other times folk get their thing but it is executed poorly so they end up unhappy because what they got was half baked.

honestly most one piece characters are awful
Yet all Oda needs to do is have zoro cut a mountain or something and half the fanbase will cum their pants

I just wish these characters were more complex and had better arcs. Instead we just get more repetition of the same old
Luffy: I will be pirate king
SHs: Luffy will be pirate king

  • You turn a 8 year old kid into 28 from your ass. We would complain.
  • You bring "mama mode". We would complain.
  • You keep wanking Kanjiro and Orochi. We would complain.
  • You keep introducing useless characters. We would complain.
  • You make this raid looks like a party. We would complain.
  • You create fake hype (Wsw, Luffy sinking into the sea, Hyogoro getting killed,.. etc).We would complain.
  • Not even 1 major character has been killed ever since the raid started. We would complain.
  • You give irrelevant characters more screen time than the SHs. We would complain.
  • You clown a character who has been hyped for years. We would complain.

Just get red of the Mugiwaras.Rivery was cool(just 6 Chapters but it was good).

The moment you see them, you KNOW the Villain is doomed to getting clowned,to many "Im gonna be the Pirate" lines and Ruffys Cheerleader

see the issue with dressrosa is that Oda got rid of half the straw hats and replaced them with characters nobody gave a shit about

I promise you the arc would have been 100% better if the colosseum fighters were replaced with the supernovas. Why do we need to introduce yet another batch of powerful new world rookies when we did it before back in sabaody?

My problem with wano is that it has some very good chapters and some really bad ones too. There is no balance. For example the rooftop battle was really cool and some other chapters were like 9/10 easily. But at the same time, he imo made some bad choices too. Like making drake disappear for 20 chapters for no reason, making momo 28 years old out of no where(seriously how trash was that), anything that has to do with tama, scabbards fighting kaido that literally didnt have any impact in the story at all, making king look like a joke with that ridiculous slingshot attack(seriously i cant see him in the same way after this), turning smile users into complete joke(that completely destroyed any tension i had about this arc. You cant make your enemies look like fools, its bad narratively wise) and kanjuro's inability to die its getting annoying too.
I mean wtf oda!
