Even if Wano has been the most “traditional” arc format of the post-TS, it still has many of the same issues imo. Namely,
- Still less focus on most of SH crew compared to pre-TS, with side characters taking up too much panel time. I think someone compiled a list of panel time recently and Kiku was somehow in the top 10. Issue is that Oda did an absolutely horrendous job on the Scabbards (with few exceptions like Denjiro) who are the main connections to the Wano plotline. Oda spent like 100 chapters on the Wano flashback, mostly dedicated to hyping up Oden with the Scabbards coming off as generic accessory side characters to him with no agency. Alabasta was a Vivi-centric arc but she was a fully formed endearing character that didn’t seem to steal the spotlight from the SHs (i.e., Inu taking one of the main henchman fights). Usopp and Brook didn’t even get a solo fight this arc
I think Oda though readers would connect more with Scabbards (remember the story of the editors crying for the chapter when the Scabbards started fighting Kaido) - Horrendous pacing, Luffy took like 30 chapters to get to the rooftop. 80% of which was filler because Oda wanted to make Chapter 1000 special. Too bad that made half the raid feel meaningless
