I hope it's now clear that figuring out King's secret is not the same as finding King's "weakness", since King just trades one stat for another. With King still being able to
a) fight with his flames on
b) defend effectively while in his speed mode, while keeping ancient Zoan durability

a big weakness, having speed and losing resistence was what made him lose the fight. Someone like Zoro who doesn't even have a future vision was already managing to fight his speed.

Beating King is more of a speed feat than AP feat.

I think it's both, since Zoro not without reason has coated his attacks in CoC to create a more powerful version of Santoryu. Plus, King could just trade some of his speed to fight with his flames on. Like he used fire in their final clashes.
