Same, MK in a way is supposed to be Marvel's take on Batman, but obviously very different in set up.

The groundedness is what I'm excited for. It's why I love Daredevil. The concept of "normal" people existing in this world (i.e. Daredevil's vulnerability when getting the shit kicked out of him) is when I honestly started liking the franchise. I've been loving Hawkeye far more than the other shows for this reason too

Making characters other races/genders doesn't make them more interesting, they are extreme people doing extreme things far outside of the scope of reality already.

BTW Losing your wife and two children is worse than growing up in the ghetto and perhaps losing a few people in your class who got involved in the gang life. Nothing is worse than losing your own children really tbh.

If I wanted to watch a drama about the difficulties of being a black person I'd do that instead of watching a superhero show, as a downtrodden "no-hope" black woman who can also shoot laser beams out of her eyes and fly at 100mph isn't really pushing any buttons of sympathy.

Dude best scene in Hawkeye is when Kate asks him how he went hard of hearing and the quick montage of him being near explosions in every avengers movie, that had me dying . Seriously though, Hawkeye is even less superhuman than Daredevil is, and I love that the show has portrayed the consequence of him being normal dealing with all of this shit.

And it's funny that people say that Marvel doesn't have layers to it.

On the flipside, it's why I love Killmonger as a villain. Grew up in the projects, found his father murdered, and had a desire to take down the entire wakandan establishment because of it. And he pretty much does so without any powers until the end.

Post 2016 MCU films have, for the most part, well written and engaging plots beyond their spectacle. I question how many movies or shows you've actually watched. The franchise has improved over the years, and there is a reason its attracted well respected actors and film makers beyond money (most do not get paid the RDJ salary, it comes with proof and time that you can MAKE a good film/show first).

An MCU film? Engaging? Well written? I've seen people say it's fun (it is) and something similar, but never that it's well written or engaging. That's new.

And you think actors want to star in MCU films because they're good? That's childish and naïve. Actors want to star in these movies because it's all about money and becoming an A list actor afterwards. It's like media products doing collabs with other media products - it's not for art's sake or anything, it's just another easy cash cow.
