General & Others Luffy vs Katakuri is the best fight in the new world

I re-read the whole Luffy vs. Katakuri fight that starts in chapter 878 and ends in chapter 896.
I find this fight exceptional on several levels:

-Luffy who fights the right arm of an emperor for the first time

-Katakuri which has all forms of Haki -Luffy who must surpass himself to beat Katakuri and his Haki from the future -

Katakuri's personality -The development of Katakuri in some chapters -

The respect between Katakuri and Luffy -

The Haki of Kings clash between Luffy and Katakuri -

The relationship between Katakuri and Brûlée -

Luffy who releases a new Gear 4 to face Katakuri's Future Haki All of these make me say that Luffy vs Katakuri is the coolest in the new world, Katakuri was an antagonist without being an antagonist.

Katakuri showed what a true second of an emperor is, showing his hardening of the very high level Haki as well as the Haki of kings and that of advanced observation.

In addition the fight is actually super long it lasts about 14 or 20 chapters with some external events but it's still nice to follow, we feel the difficulty for Luffy to reach Katakuri at the beginning of the fight and we feel his progress as he goes. until he beats Katakuri with his King Cobra

What do you think of this fight?

For me it's the best fight in the new world.

It had some cool panels and moments but right now I prefer Zoro vs King and even Yamato vs Kaido is a close one. Had Oda took more time with Jimbei vs Who's who I would have also rated it higher.
When Luffy was using G4 it was good but other than that Luffy was too much on the defensive.
And the fact that FS has been mostly irrelevant since then makes it worse.
Oda liked Kata too much imo, his favourite RHM so far

The only thing missing from this fight is the emotion which's the biggest thing in OP fights


The formula ending of Luffy flashingback to his freinds then smashing the head of the villain through a symbol is so good that when oda goes out of it , it kinda take the fight down for me


And anyway Oda didn't dilever a good ending with not even showing the last clash impact , literally offscreened so I still have Doffy vs Luffy as my favorite or most satisfying to see doffy punched through a whole country

Katakuri was shoe-horned into the story as a main antagonist in the last act of the arc.

Would have made a lot more sense if Luffy met katakuri before the tea party. Like if Kata was the one big mom sent after Luffy after he defeated Cracker. Or if Luffy never fought cracker and instead fought katakuri at the beginning of the arc.

It could be the best fight with a better finale.

Katakuri hardest haki that couldn't knock out Luffy after thousand of hits seems weaker than Bellamy's, Doffy's, Cracker's haki and Hody Jones "Prime" Bite.

Katakuri's personality development during the fight only to be crushed at the end. He is knocking out his own sister with that CoC clash. That's clearly harming her. And he let Luffy ran away for no reason. Luffy lost that fight. Katakuri could have finished him if he wanted to.

Luffy failed to surpass Katakuri in most aspects. Only his Boundman has better armament haki, but he didn't got better FS(CoO) or even speed. Snakeman is being outspeed by Katakuri.

Katakuri that made an ambush and brought his own little army to Sunny out of sudden has moral and honor epiphany and wants a fair 1v1 with Luffy that is using coward trickys as running from Mirror World and waiting the 10min drawback of G4 pass.

The coreography of the fight is very good on Katakuri's side (Luffy seems and idiot attacking straight foward, he was much better pre-timeskip). But the fight as a whole can't be said the best of post-timeskip.

Luffy vs Doffy is overall better than Luffy vs Katakuri.
And don't even make me say about Zoro vs King.

Luffy won the fight. By finally rereading the victory is clear. If you look closely at the cases you see in the final blow, Luffy's attack hit Katakuri in the stomach.

Then Luffy falls into the hole and Gear 4 deactivates for 10 minutes. Katakuri collapses on her stomach

10 minutes later Luffy gets up and comes out of the hole Katakuri is on the ground on a board that must be watched.

Then Luffy considered Nami's words to join the others. This is where Katakuri steps up in front and uses his remaining strength to ask Luffy a "Will you come back and beat Big Mom" question?

Luffy answers yes Katakuri says Luffy is collapsing and says Luffy sees far into the future And collapses on my back Luffy puts it on his mouth out of respect. Katakuri is on the ground, Luffy is standing. Luffy is the winner but it's almost a draw.

OMG! Katakuri got hit on stomach while Luffy got a huge blow on his head!

Oda drew Luffy knocked out first than Katakuri. In fact Katakuri doesn't look knocked out but only falling asleep which he specifically chose to do it having your back upwards.

10 minutes later Luffy get out of the hole and CRAWLS only to find a stand up Katakuri ready to fight(but plot...) who made a huge speech before going back to sleep.

Then it's clear that Katakuri won the fight and let Luffy ran away.

He didn't let Luffy win I don't agree, and yes it feels that he used last strength it seems to me that he did "haaa haaa" 'on several occasions and in the anime he is at the end of the line of breath.

Knowing that the animated is validated by Oda for the fights, we have seen that before falling for the first time on the stomach he tries to stand up but he falls (in the animated) Then after he asking Luffy a question where the 2 are standing he falls on his back (in the anime too)

But even in the manga it can be seen that it is not on purpose to fall or sleep, you have to look at all the boards to understand.

We agree. Katakuri didn't let Luffy win. Katakuro win and let Luffy escape.

Luffy vs Katakuri was the first fight in One Piece that I ended up hating.
Butchered by plot armor and cheerleadership...
How can y'all call that the best fight? :crazwhat:

All of Luffy's fights in NW have been bad because he couldnt finish what he started.
Zoro vs King has taken New World fights to a whole new level.
Luffy vs Katakuri cant even be compared to it. It looks silly in comparison.
