I think awakening is for admirals.....Luffy is not so good in AoE, long range combat and on the other hand admirals are very strong in long range, AoE attacks given the nature of their DF....awakening helps Luffy improve on that front.....there is no need for awakening against Kaido because since the beginning haki has been most emphasized against Kaido....
We really need more info on this fruit business but Kaido's could fit, we already know the government was interested in it to the point of making a copy and Vegapunk kept it from them since it was labeled a failure but this could be to hide Kaido's fruit because it's special and the different colors between him and Momonosuke might be hinting at something more going on instead of failure. The CP0 agent being glad that the lost copy was a failure could also be a hint of another purpose beyond just a powerful zoan.
I kind of feel like that Luffy will get awakening later against Teach or admirals, but who knows.
Seems like Law & Kidd will beat BM through awakening, and Luffy will beat Kaido through advanced haki atm
I think we'll get to see a final Gear 4th form for Luffy to beat Kaido.
While i do think Luffy will get awakening in order to beat Teach, the idea of Luffy getting awakening in order to beat the one guy who can completely nullify Devil Fruits kind of weirded me out lol.

I think Oda shouldnt shove so much powerup in one arc lol, Oda hadnt even explored Internal Destruction CoA like at all. If only Luffy entirely figured out and mastered Internal Destruction CoA, if only Oda portray Luffy's power invention enough, then Luffy's formula should suffice as the ultimate hax against Kaidou:
Something along the lines of [Internal Destruction CoA-CoC Coating -Rubber] fusion being stacked multiple times or something. Something even Kaidou never experienced before in his life, where Luffy becomes a ghost, a spectre, whose CoC Coats doesnt clash and crush directly, but instead become intangible and totally bypasses Kaidou's durability instead, directly crushing Kaidou's organs. The sensible solution is there, Luffy just has to invent it instead of Oda jumping from giving the rubberboi one powerup after another but without properly going deep into each.

I think even of the Gorosei hype Luffy's fruit it doesn't have to mean he's getting it this arc. We've been asking about him getting awakening for a long time. First DR, then WCI with hints to it. Now Wano has his rival captains using it. Kaido and BM probably will use it too.
Why it may suggest it, it's just in the long line of events that have hyped Luffy getting awakening. The thing is, awakening comes with practice/experience. Someone needs to teach it to him I'm pretty sure.
