Why is yamato having so hard time fighting that Fire ball? Its made by kanjuro isn't yamato supposed to be super strong? Like then how strong kanjuro himself is that his single attack has turned the island into such a mess.

Assign literally is used to make someone else magnetic. He did not use awakening.

Assign is just one of Kid's awakening's applications. We don't know if he used awakening this chapter but given how his attacks should work in parallel to Law's, it's fair to assume he did. He also magnetized the iron bars while he seemingly couldn't repel them previously—probably because they have souls now. Assigning magnetism to the things with souls does technically count as awakening.
